Abstract

The Jakarta Bay is located in the northern province of DKI Jakarta has an area of 514 km². Various kinds of human activities cause these waters to receive loads of pollutants that will interfere with quality of the waters. This study aims to analyze the chlorophyll-α content, to know the difference of chlorophyll-α distribution based on the results of field measurements with Landsat 8 satellite, and to know the chlorophyll-α distribution temporally. The research method used is survey with descriptive analysis. The measurement of temporal distribution of chlorophyll-α  is conducted in 3 location i.e, Ancol, Penjaringan, and Tanjung Priok. The content of chlorophyll-α in the waters of Jakarta Bay varies, with the highest value is 1,1 mg/l in Ancol and the lowest value is 0,5 mg/l in Tanjung Priok. The result of chlorophyll-α distribution  from measurement of satellite data has the highest value of 0,8 mg/l in the East season (17 August 2016) and the lowest value of 0,6 mg/l in the West season (10 March 2016), while the highest value of the field measurements result was 1,1 mg/l in Ancol and the lowest value is 0,5 mg/l in Tanjung Priok. The temporally distribution of chlorophyll-α is varied. The highest value occurred in the East season of 0,8 mg/l, and the lowest value occurred in the West season of 0,6 mg/l.
