Abstract

Vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is an economically important aquaculture species due to its high productivity and commercial value. This study aimed to evaluate the growth performance of vannamei shrimp reared in intensive ponds in Situbondo, East Java, Indonesia. An observational approach was used, and the data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively using Microsoft Excel. Growth performance was assessed based on average daily growth (ADG), average body weight (ABW), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and survival rate (SR). The mean ADG across the three ponds was 0.39 g/day, with pond E8 showing the highest initial ADG of 0.41 g/day before disease onset. The highest ABW was recorded in pond E7 at 35.20 g/shrimp. The mean FCR was 1.25, with pond E8 exhibiting the lowest value. SR reached 93.43% in pond E7 and 93.4% in pond E8, while pond E5 recorded a lower SR of 84.7%, which was associated with molting failure. Overall, the results indicate differences in growth performance and survival among the ponds. Disease occurrence, molting failure, and extreme weather were identified as potential factors affecting production outcomes. These findings highlight the importance of maintaining suitable culture conditions and effective health management in intensive vannamei shrimp farming.
