This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the ability of third-grade students at SDN Panancangan 4 to construct simple English sentences. This study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 38 third-grade students of SDN Panancangan 4. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis showed that the mean pretest score was 67.32 with a standard deviation of 18.627, while the mean posttest score increased to 82.97 with a standard deviation of 10.205. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a Z value of -5.376 with an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of < 0.001, indicating that the significance value was less than 0.05. Therefore, H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. It can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model had a significant effect on the ability of third-grade students at SDN Panancangan 4 to construct simple English sentences. The implication of this study indicates that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can be an alternative learning model for teachers to improve students' ability to construct simple English sentences. The PBL model can create more active learning and encourage students to engage in problem-solving activities, thereby supporting the development of their ability to construct simple sentences.
