Abstract

The problem of death penalty that befell Indonesian migrant workers in Saudi Arabia reached dozens of migrant workers starting from 2014-2018. Indonesian government in this case has made efforts to releasing the migrant workers which have been entangled by this death penalty and these efforts are a form of diplomatic relations, diplomatic protection, and the embodiment of official diplomacy in the first track diplomacy. Therefore, this research intends to describe Indonesia’s diplomatic efforts in the process of releasing death penalty’s convicted migrant workers in Saudi Arabia, and to describe the Indonesian government’s inhibition in guarding cases that ensnare the migrant workers due to Indonesia’s lower bargaining position than Saudi Arabia. This research uses two concepts, first concept is diplomacy, that can explain the efforts of Indonesian government diplomacy, formal diplomacy or the informal diplomacy. Second concept is bargaining position which can explain the obstruction of the Indonesian government because of its bargaining position in overseeing the cases. The results of this research are Indonesia's bargaining position is lower and weaker compared to Saudi Arabia because of several factors such as poor governance of the protection of Indonesian migrant workers, Indonesia’s dependency on Saudi Arabia, Indonesia’s economic problems, and owning death penalty system in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines strategies for utilizing halal tourism as a driver of sustainable economic development in Central Java, Indonesia, a pilot province for this niche market. With a focus on Muslim travelers seeking culturally and religiously appropriate experiences, the research integrates primary data from stakeholder interviews and secondary data from local tourism records. The findings highlight that while Central Java’s halal tourism sector shows considerable potential, it remains in its early stages, with significant opportunities for growth. Key strategies identified include categorizing tourist destinations into historical, nature, and cultural segments to better tailor marketing and improve visitor experiences. Additionally, creating regional tourist routes is suggested to enhance accessibility and navigation for tourists. The study emphasizes the importance of aligning halal tourism efforts with sustainable economic growth, particularly in the context of the G20 agenda. By linking halal tourism with broader economic strategies, the research provides actionable insights for policymakers and industry stakeholders to strengthen local business capacities and boost the economic resilience of the region. This approach positions halal tourism not only as a cultural offering but also as a pivotal component of Central Java’s long-term economic development strategy.

Abstract

The phenomenon of an ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) bride who was recruited by a Middle Eastern jihadist group and was banished by her country of origin caused controversy after the confession of the spread of false realities in her recruitment. The refusal of recognition as citizens for former members occurs because of an incident that betrays and is imposed by the state. In this case, ISIS does not only recruit men, but women are also often recruited by ISIS to become jihadist brides as a form of its jihad by using online media to implement a false reality. This research uses Post-Structuralism theory with its derivative concept, namely Simulakra by Jean Baudrillard. The author collects data using the literature study method through journals/articles, books, websites, international news, films, and interviews with several sources. The research is descriptive and explanatory, which will provide an overview of the reasons why women joined ISIS as jihadi brides, how the form of the strategy used by ISIS in implementing false realities, and also explain why ISIS chose this strategy. The result of this research is that the role of online media (social and mass) is very effective in working groups so many women are interested in joining it on the grounds that it is a form of migration and lives under the auspices of the chaliphate.
