Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Quality of Service (QoS) performance of the WiFi network at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Serambi Mekkah, and to compare network performance between the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. The analyzed parameters include throughput, delay, jitter, and packet loss. Measurements were conducted for seven days at three test points representing the first, second, and third floors using a client-server method with iPerf3. The results showed that the throughput values of the 2.4 GHz frequency on the first, second, and third floors were 9.97 Mbps, 9.93 Mbps, and 9.97 Mbps, respectively, while the 5 GHz frequency achieved 39.9 Mbps on all floors. The delay value for both frequencies was 0 ms. The jitter values for 2.4 GHz were 4.009 ms, 24.267 ms, and 1.361 ms, while the 5 GHz frequency recorded 0.521 ms, 0.741 ms, and 0.487 ms on the first, second, and third floors, respectively. Meanwhile, packet loss on the 2.4 GHz frequency was 8.9%, 45.3%, and 0.3%, while the 5 GHz frequency recorded 1.4%, 5.0%, and 0.5%, respectively. Based on the TIPHON evaluation, throughput and delay at all test locations were classified as very good. Overall, the 5 GHz frequency demonstrated better QoS performance than the 2.4 GHz frequency, particularly in terms of throughput, jitter, and packet loss, making it more recommended for supporting academic activities at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Serambi Mekkah.
