Abstract

Adolescence is a critical developmental phase marked by heightened sexual curiosity that may lead to risky sexual behavior with physical, psychological, and social consequences. Parental guidance and peer influence are two major determinants of adolescent sexual behavior. This study aimed to analyze the association between parental role and peer role and sexual behavior among adolescents at SMA Negeri 2 Banguntapan. A quantitative cross-sectional design was applied to 77 twelfth-grade students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires measuring parental role, peer role, and adolescent sexual behavior, and were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The results showed that 59.7% of parents performed a poor role, 53.2% of respondents reported a large peer influence, and 50.6% exhibited risky sexual behavior. The Chi-square test demonstrated a significant association between parental role and adolescent sexual behavior (p = 0.008) and between peer role and adolescent sexual behavior (p = 0.001). The findings suggest that strengthening parental communication, supervision, and reproductive-health education, combined with positive peer-support programs at school, may contribute to reducing risky sexual behavior among adolescents
