Abstract

The increasing presence of Arabic in visual elements such as room signs, motivational banners, and religious quotations across school spaces indicates that language functions not merely as a means of communication, but also as a medium for transmitting values and institutional ideology. This study examines the forms, language patterns, and educational values embedded in Arabic visual narratives within the linguistic landscape of an Islamic elementary school. This research employs a qualitative method with a critical interpretative paradigm and adopts the linguistic landscape framework proposed by Elana Shohamy and Durk Gorter. Data were collected through visual observation, documentation, and informal interviews at at SD Islam Sabilillah Malang, Indonesia. The findings reveal that the use of Arabic in the school’s visual environment is strategically designed to shape students’ character, foster positive learning attitudes, and reinforce Islamic identity. The novelty of this study lies in its integrated analysis of visual forms, language patterns, and educational values, which are interpreted as a form of implicit language policy operating within the context of Islamic elementary education.
