Abstract

This study descriptively examines life satisfaction and reported need-deficiency scores among female international postgraduate students from China/East Asia. The manuscript reports results for N = 120 and uses the Maslow Motivation Test (36 items) and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). Reported mean deficiency percentages were highest for self-esteem needs (54.80%), followed by self-actualization (49.40%), safety and security (48.55%), love and belonging (38.90%), and physiological needs (29.90%). The reported life-satisfaction mean was 3.55 (SD = 1.19), although the scoring procedure and consistency of these statistics require clarification. The study is descriptive and does not measure spirituality or religious coping; therefore, it cannot establish associations between need deficiencies and life satisfaction or evaluate spiritually integrated counselling. Interpretation is limited by the homogeneous sample and unresolved information about whether the reported N represents observed or simulated data. The findings should be treated as provisional until the data source, scoring procedures, and psychometric properties are documented.
