Abstract

This Community Service activity was carried out with the aim of increasing the community's sharia economic literacy through the role of students of the Sharia Banking Study Program at the Baiturrahman Mosque, Gunung Manobot Village, Lubuk Barumun District. The background of this activity is the low public understanding of the concept of sharia economics, the prohibition of usury, and the difference between the Islamic and conventional banking systems. The method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants consisted of the Chairman of the Mosque, the Imam of the Mosque, and three members of the community. The stages of the activity include preparation, implementation of socialization, and evaluation. The socialization material includes the basic concepts of Islamic economics, the principle of prohibition of usury, the Islamic transaction system, and the introduction of Islamic banking products. The results of the activity showed an increase in public understanding after participating in the socialization, which was characterized by the ability to re-explain the material, activeness in discussions, and changes in perception of Islamic banking. The public is beginning to understand the fundamental differences between the sharia and conventional systems and the urgency of applying sharia principles in daily economic activities. This research confirms that mosques can function as an effective educational medium, while students play the role of agents of change that make a positive contribution to improving the community's sharia economic literacy.
