Abstract

The growing interaction between Islam and psychology has encouraged the recognition of Islamic teachings as a source of psychological concepts relevant to mental health and well-being. This article aims to examine the relationship between Islam, mental health, and psychological integration through a systematic analysis of contemporary literature, with particular attention to Muslim adolescents. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A total of 25 eligible articles were analyzed using descriptive analysis and thematic synthesis. Findings of the analysis indicate that Islamic concepts such as sabr, tawakkul, dhikr, fitrah, tawhid, and Ma'rifat al-Nafs contribute to coping mechanisms, emotional regulation, resilience, and psychological well-being. The analysis also reveals that these concepts have been increasingly integrated into counseling and therapeutic approaches that accommodate Islamic values and cultural contexts. However, empirical studies focusing on Muslim adolescents remain limited. The findings imply the need for longitudinal and experimental research, as well as culturally validated assessment instruments, to strengthen evidence-based Islamic psychology and support more contextual mental health interventions for Muslim communities.
