Abstract

Body odor in humans usually occurs due to the overproduction of sweat glands and the presence of bacteria. Antiperspirants are cosmetic preparations that are used to restrain the release of excessive amounts of sweat by narrowing the pores of the sweat glands, both eccrine and apocrine. This study aims to make deodorant spray/stick/stick preparations by utilizing natural ingredients, namely alum. In this study, several tests were used including organoleptic tests, irritation tests, pH tests, melting time tests, melting point tests, and antiperspirant tests. Alum powder has wide traditional use as an astringent to prevent bleeding from minor wounds and promote their healing. Therefore, dosage forms are more precisely designed with suitable concentrations (2% gel) to extend their astringent activity with higher retention times due to the highly viscous nature of the gel. Using suitable excipients, 2% lotions and gels were prepared by the dispersion method while emulsifiers were used for the preparation of potassium alum cream of equal strength. The research results obtained were homogeneous, did not cause irritation to the skin, yellowish green in color and showed no change in the formulation which showed its stability as a dosage form and its size as a commercial product line.

Abstract

Tea is a drink that is very common in our daily lives which can be used as a health drink for the body. Tea products are not only made from the tops of tea plant leaves, but can be produced from other leaves such as butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea). Butterfly pea flowers contain secondary metabolite compounds such as phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids and anthocyanins. These secondary metabolites make telang flowers useful for treating premature aging, cancer, digestive disorders and cardiovascular diseases. The aim of this community service is to introduce tea bags made from butterfly pea flowers. The activity methods used are demonstrations, lectures and discussions. The materials and equipment used are butterfly pea flowers, lemon, warm water, ice cubes, honey and spoons and glasses. Participants who took part in this activity were students of SMK PGRI 2 Cimahi. The results of the training activities that have been carried out are that students at SMK PGRI 2 Cimahi can understand the process of making and using butterfly pea flowers as tea bags and produce healthy tea drinks with flavors that students like. The conclusion of this training is that students can learn about the use of natural ingredients such as butterfly pea flowers as tea bags which have various health benefits.

Abstract

Infeksi kulit pada manusia sering terjadi dan terkadang menular. Pengobatan penyakit infeksi cenderung membutuhkan antibiotik, namun penggunaan antibiotik yang berlebihan dan tidak sesuai dengan prosedur pemakaian akan menyebaban terjadinya resistensi, maka diperlukan alternatif lain selain antibiotik. Salah satunya dengan penggunaan bahan alami yang memiliki efektivitas sebagai antibakteri yaitu daun waru (Hibiscus tiliaceus L.). Daun Waru diketahui memiliki senyawa aktif seperti flavonoid, saponin dan tanin yang berfungsi sebagai antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui formula optimum sediaan gel dari ekstrak etanol daun waru (Hibiscus tiliaceus L.) serta mengetahui efektivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental laboratorium dengan memformulasikan sediaan gel dengan ekstrak etanol daun waru (Hibiscus tiliaceus L.) dengan konsentrasi 15 %, 20 % dan 25 %. Kemudian dilakukan uji efektivitas antibakteri metode zona hambat, evaluasi sediaan dan uji stabilitas sediaan. Hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan statistik One Way ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukan gel ekstrak etanol daun waru (Hibiscus tiliaceus L.) dengan konsentrasi 15 %, 20 % dan 25 % selama penyimpanan satu bulan stabil sesuai dengan persyaratan dari segi evaluasi fisik. Berdasarkan uji efektivitas antibakteri pada dosis F3 (25 %) menunjukkan dosis yang paling efektif dan paling stabil serta efektivitas antibakteri yang paling kuat dibandingkan dengan konsentrasi lainya yang ditunjukkan dengan hasil zona hambat 22,84 mm termasuk dalam kategori kuat.
