Abstract

Citrus hystrix Peel Extract and Carica papaya Leaves Extract contain several active components that can be used as antimicrobial compounds. The aim was to test a mixture of extracts from Citrus hystrix peel and Carica papaya leaves as growth inhibiting compounds for Candida albicans and Escherichia coli. This study used 4 levels of treatment, namely a combination of papaya leaves extract and orange fruit peel at concentrations of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. The research data were in the form of the diameter of the growth inhibition of Escherichia coli and Candida fungi, which were analyzed using the Kruskall-Wallis test at 5% confidence level and 5% Duncan's test. showed a significant difference between treatments, but the concentration of 100% showed better results to inhibit Escherichia coli (1.58 ± 0.28 d) and the growth of Candida albicans (1.53 ± 0.57b) compared to controls and other concentrations.

Abstract

Indonesia is the second rubber producer in the world, in its processing rubber produces liquid waste that contains quite high ammonia levels. This study aims to provide an alternative solution to the problem of water pollution due to ammonia in rubber industry liquid waste using a bioremediation process with a simple bioreactor. This study used indigenous fungi treatment of 4% and banana peel extract of 0%, 5%, and 10%. This study studies the potential of indigenous fungi with banana peel extract nutrients to reduce ammonia levels in water. The parameter measured is the level of ammonia in the water in the bioreactor. The results showed that indigenous fungi with banana peel extract nutrients had an effect on ammonia parameters. Treatment with a concentration of indigenous fungi 4% and banana peel extract 10% had a significant effect on reducing ammonia levels. The more indigenous fungi inoculum and banana extract used, the more effective it is in reducing ammonia in water.

Abstract

Sugarcane is an economically valuable plant that continues to be developed to produce superior varieties, the technique to get new varietis used is microspore culture biotechnology. There are many obstacles in the implementation of the microspore cultivar method. Therefore, in this research, a study of sugarcane anthers was carried out. This research used sugarcane panicles for anther selection and then observed under a microscope. Data is analyze with descriptivey method. The results show that white and yellow anthers are the right materials for microspore culture donors
