Abstract

One of the determining factors the success of aquaculture is the provision of fish feed. There are many types of fish feed sold in the market, ranging from natural feed to artificial feed. One type of natural fish feed was Daphnia sp. Growth of Daphnia sp can be maximized by utilizing livestock waste as an additional nutrient. The aim of this community partnership program was to socialize to the public about Daphnia sp natural food and provide training to the community on how to cultivate Daphnia sp. The main target was an aquaculture stakeholder namely Women Farmers Group of Permai Tani which was in Gandusari Village, Bandongan District, Magelang Regency. The stages of this activity include tools and materials preparation, program of socialization to partners, implementation, and evaluation program. The working steps of implementing the activity were preparing the tools and materials needed including Daphnia sp seeds, livestock waste (goat manure, chicken manure and eggs) and catfish cultured wastewater as a culture medium. This activity has been carried out well, socialization and training attended by participants from Women Farmers Group of Permai Tani members. The enthusiasm of the participants was very good. This can be seen from sharing and asking activity about how to cultivate Daphnia sp. The results of this activity can increase the production of Daphnia sp which was used as natural fish feed in Gandusari Village, Bandongan District, Magelang Regency.

Abstract

Feed is one of the main components with important function to support the freshwater fish culture success. Sufficient feed quantity and quality can ensure the fish culture cycle continuity. Feed occupies the highest position, which spends 60-80% of the total production cost requirement in intensive fish culture to support the fish growth. The high feed cost is unmatched with the fish selling price, resulting in a minimum profit gain. Based on this condition, a community service, focusing on self-produced feed training needs to be implemented to increase the cost efficiency and effectiveness in freshwater fish culture. This training was conducted in Gunungpring Village, Muntilan Sub-district, Magelang District with fish cultivator communities. The feed used as the object for this training contained artificial and live feed. Training activities contained surveys, field observations, outreach, counseling, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. This training could clearly introduce the community to the use of alternative feeds for ornamental and consumed-fish commodities. Live feed production training included Azolla sp., Daphnia sp., silkworms, and earthworms, while artificial feed included pellets of pf500-1000. This training program increases the community understanding and skills, followed by the quality and quantity of fishery products. As the training also has an impact on the regional food security with massive community assistance, so harvest failure can be minimized optimally.

Abstract

Catfish is a type of freshwater fish that contains abundant protein. Catfish is also a food source with high nutrition so it needs to be processed properly in order to increase people's interest in consuming catfish. One of them is by processing catfish into nuggets, by combining animal food and vegetable food, so that this food will have a nutritional content that is high enough to be consumed. The method used is the lecture method and active participation in the training activities provided. The training was attended by the Head of Gandusari Village, Head of farmer women's group (KWT) Permai Tani. The activity started with preparing tools and materials, delivering material about digital marketing, practicing making carrot catfish nuggets, and handing over cooking equipment to KWT Permai Tani. From this activity it can be concluded that the public likes the Carrot Catfish Nugget products that have been made. The suggestion for the next activity is that the community can independently practice directly making fishery products.

Abstract

Interest in the cultivation of koi carp commodities has increased during the Covid-19 pandemic. Breeders come from various communities. This study aims to determine whether topographic differences have an effect or not on the growth of koi carp. The research was conducted from February to March 2022 for 45 days. The location of the research was carried out in three different places, Kaliangkrik, Tempuran, and Kebumen. The research method used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 3 repetitions. The first treatment is an altitude of 1,030 meters above sea level (Kaliangkrik), the second is 323 meters above sea level (Tempuran), and the third is 26 meters above sea level (Kebumen). The data were analyzed using the Analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) further tests. The results showed that topographic differences affect the growth of koi fish both in weight and length growth of koi fish. The altitude that produces the best growth in this study is at an altitude of 26 meters above sea level or located in Kebumen. This is supported by the data showing the highest weight (average 4,1 g), the longest (average 2.5 cm), the lowest FCR (average 2,16), and the highest Survival Rate (SR) high (80%).

Abstract

Goldfish (Carassius auratus) at Maju Mapan Farm is one of the leading ornamental fish commodities with a high mortality rate due to disease. For this reason, this research aims to know about the type, prevalence, and intensity of ectoparasites at Maju Mapan Farm. The method in this research was random sampling for fish sampling 30 fish/pond. The type of parasites, prevalence, and intensity were analyzed descriptively and described in figures, tables, or graphs. This observation and identification showed that ectoparasites infected by goldfish at Maju Mapan Farm consisted of 3 types: Trichodina sp, Dactylogyrus sp, and Gyrodactylus sp. The types of ectoparasites that dominated both were Trichodina sp (96.11%), Dactylogyrus sp (3.61%), and Gyrodactylus sp (0.28%). Prevalence of ectoparasites was Trichodina sp (83.33%), Dactylogyrus sp (43.33%), and Gyrodactylus sp (6.67%). The intensity of ectoparasites were Trichodina sp (129 ind/fish), Dactylogyrus sp. (9 ind/fish), and Gyrodactylus sp (4 ind/fish). Trichodina sp. and Gyrodactylus sp. were commonly found in mucus, while Dactylogyrus sp. only infected goldfish in the gill organ. Prevalence and intensity of ectoparasites were found in goldfish with medium-stage infection at Maju Mapan Farm. The result of measuring water quality parameters was not optimal, causing ectoparasites to infect and multiply rapidly in goldfish at Maju Mapan Farm.

Abstract

Asian Redtail Catfish (Hemibagrus nemurus) is one of the freshwater fish commodities that lives on several rivers in Indonesia. Unavailability of Asian Redtail Catfish throughout Indonesia causing the provider area to become a target market for distributing Asian Redtail Catfish. This study aims to find out the effect of administering the optimal anesthetic dose of banana stem liver extract for anesthesia and the survival rate of Asian Redtail Catfish in dry system transportation testing. The research method used is the complete random design method (RAL) 3 treatments and 3 repetitions, where P1 (dose 1%), P2 (dose 2%), and P3 (dose 3%). The results showed that a dose of 1% banana stem liver extract gave the best results in the dry system transportation test process with a duration of 76 minutes 35 seconds, a conscious recovery duration of 7 minutes 1 second, and a survival rate. Survival rate Asian Redtail Catfish amounted to 94.43% of the total sample. This proves that the anesthesia of banana stem liver extract affects the survival rate of Asian Redtail Catfish with an optimum dose of 1% and further research is needed on dosing and the correlation between samples and variables.

Abstract

Common carp is a fish consumption that is relatively easy to cultivate since it tends to be adaptive (easy to adapt to its environment and resistant to various types of diseases). One of the protein requirements for the growth of fish seeds can be obtained from mustard greens. Furthermore, the abundant availability of mustard greens in Kajoran Village can be an alternative feed if developed as carp feed. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of mustard greens powder on the growth of common carp (Cyprinus carpio); besides, to determine the best concentration of mustard greens powder on the growth of common carp. This study was conducted in January-February 2022. The research method used an experimental method with treatment P1 (control), P2 (mustard green powder 25%), P3 (50%), P4 (75%), and P5 (100%). The results of giving the concentration of mustard green powder for the growth of common carp show a significant difference and it can increase the growth of carp. Furthermore, the best treatment is achieved in the P3 treatment (50% mustard green powder) with an average weight gain of 1.120 g. From the results of this study, it is expected that the people of Kajoran Village can use mustard greens well for carp cultivation with a concentration of 50% pellets and 50% mustard green powder. In addition, further research is needed on the manufacture of pellets from mustard green powder to make it easier for farmers to feed.
