Abstract

This research explores the traditional clothing traditions of the Sikerei Mentawai, an indigenous community living in the Mentawai Islands, Indonesia. Sikerei traditional clothing is mostly made from natural fibers such as tree bark (baiko), leaves, bird feathers, chicken feathers, and red kenikir flowers with red ashoka thread or wool woven together to create various decorative elements of sikerei clothing. Men often wear simple tongoro (baiko) made from tree bark, while women wear short skirts made from woven fiber or red cloth. Both men and women can also wear jara-jara (head bands) or red asoka flowers and various other accessories, such as lekkau bracelets, ngalau necklaces, which are made from natural materials. Sikerei traditional clothing is not only a cultural expression but also has a practical purpose. The lightweight and breathable nature of clothing helps the Sikerei people adapt to the tropical climate of the Mentawai Islands, while the use of natural materials reflects their close relationship with the environment and sustainable lifestyle. A qualitative approach allows researchers to explore complex nuances and look beyond raw data to discover meaningful patterns of meaning. In qualitative research, the focus is on process and meaning, as explained by Creswell (2014). Saussure's theory of signs and signifiers is used to analyze the symbolism in traditional Sikerei clothing, which helps understand the meaning contained therein. The conclusion of this analysis is that the Sikerei Mentawai traditional clothing is proof of the resilience and richness of Mentawai culture. This symbolizes a sikerei's strong connection with nature, spiritual beliefs, and commitment to preserving the traditions of the Mentawai Sikerei people. Sikerei traditional clothing is not only an expression of culture but also has a practical purpose, designed for comfort, durability and to suit their lifestyle. These conservation efforts highlight the importance of traditional clothing in maintaining cultural diversity and promoting a sense of belonging within the Mentawai community. Thus, the traditional clothing of the Mentawai Sikerei is not only a symbol of their identity but also a source of pride and a true and special cultural expression.

The rapid growth of urbanization drives the rapid physical growth of cities to stabilize the balance between needs and population growth. The construction industry plays a crucial role in the physical development of cities by building infrastructure. However, there are challenges in infrastructure development, one of which is waste. The lean approach enhances value for customers by eliminating waste in processes and resources. The research method used in this study is quantitative, with data collected through a questionnaire distributed to 53 respondents involved in supply chain management, including contractors and consultants. The data obtained were processed using IBM SPSS version 29.0 for multiple linear regression analysis. The analysis results indicate that the variables of Operations and Purchasing and Procurement have a significant impact on the implementation of LSCM in reducing waste, with Asymp. Sig. values of 0.033 and 0.003, respectively. Meanwhile, the variables of Integration, Distribution, and Logistics did not show a significant impact. The F-test indicates that simultaneously, all independent variables significantly affect the dependent variable, with a calculated F value of 12.323. The R-squared value obtained is 0.507, indicating that 50.7% of the variation in the implementation of LSCM can be explained by the independent variables studied. Keywords: Construction, Lean Thinking, Supply Chain Management, Sustainable Development, Waste

Abstract

The title of this research is “The Comradery Between an FBI Agent and a Forger as seen in Frank Abagnale's Catch Me If You Can”. This research problem focuses on the character differences between O’Riley as an FBI agent and Frank as a forger and the development of interpersonal relationships that occur between them as reflected in the novel Catch Me If You Can.The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method and the approach used is literary psychology with Freud's psychological theory (1955) and Peplau's interpersonal relationship theory (1952). The data in this novel is presented in the form of quotations and sentences derived from the characters of O'Riley and Frank, which explain their respective personalities and the development of their interpersonal relationships. The data collection technique used in this research is based on reading, marking, recording and categorising the data. This was done with the aim of distinguishing between data related to the personalities of O'Riley and Frank and data related to the interaction between the two characters, as well as its impact on the development of interpersonal relationships in Abagnale's Catch Me If You Can.The results of this research show that Frank's personality in Abagnale's Catch Me If You Can is dominated by the Id, with less influence from the Ego and Superego. This is due to his parents' divorce and his disadvantaged childhood, which drove him to seek pleasure through delinquency and crime, while O'Riley's personality is characterised by the dominance of the Superego over the Id and Ego, due to his role as an FBI agent, who has the responsibility to uphold justice. In the interactions that make up the development of the interpersonal relationship between them, this is due to the emergence of mutual respect and appreciation in their interactions over time.

Abstract

The title of this research is “The Struggle of Assassin to Overcome Identity Crisis Seen in Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Ultimatum.” The problem of this research examines the psychological and moral journey of Jason Bourne, the protagonist of The Bourne Ultimatum by Robert Ludlum, as he grapples with an identity crisis triggered by amnesia and his past as a trained killer. The author uses Erik Erikson’s psychosocial development theory to analyze Bourne’s struggle in finding himself and his quest for redemption. The researcher explores how Bourne’s amnesia, a result of the CIA mind control program, forces him to confront a past he does not remember, filled with violence and morally ambiguous actions. This narrative reveals the psychological burden of being an armed individual, stripped of personal identity, and forced to operate solely as a tool for the state. Through his interactions with allies and foes, Bourne wrestles with the consequences of his actions and the ethical implications of his existence. This research analyzes how he confronts his past, seeks to understand his true identity, and ultimately attempts to free himself from CIA control, demonstrating human desire for self-determination and potential for redemption even amidst profound trauma. The research concludes by highlighting the profound impact of identity crisis on an individual’s mental and moral development, showing how even a trained killer can overcome fractured self-perceptions and find meaning in a life marked by violence and manipulation.
