Abstract

The aim of research wasto determine the effect of the coating of edible film derived from bovine split hide gelatin on inhibiting microbiological damages and properties of the beef meatballs with different coating concentrations. The material used was gelatin types A (processed with acid curing agent) from the bovine split hide and glycerol. The completed randomize design (CRD) with a factorial pattern of 3 x 3 was used in this study. The first factor was 3 levels of coating concentration (0, 5, and 10%) and the second factor was 3 levels of storage time at 10oC (3, 6, and 9 days). It was continued to Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) if the treatment indicated significant effect at aprobability level of 5%.The results showed that the storage time and coating concentration affected the soluble protein, pH value, water holding capacity (WHC), and total plate count (TPC) in beef meatballs. Bovine split hide gelatin can be used as an edible coating on beef meatballs and extend the shelf time of beef meatballs.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of digital science scrapbook on students’ science visual literacy. Digital science scrapbook was designed to teach junior high school students, and the instrument was designed to measure the level of visual literacy before and after the treatment. This study employed a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The population was junior high school students. The convenience sampling method was chosen to carry out the pilot study on 25 students in SMP 9 Salatiga. The visual literacy course was based on the ACRL Visual Literacy Competency Standards. The differences in visual literacy levels were measured through 30 items of the visual literacy test. After conducting paired sample t-test on the data, differences between pretest and posttest were found. From the findings, significant differences in pretest and posttest scores were found. It can be concluded that digital science scrapbook is effective to train digital literacy in science. The novelty of this research is the use of digital science scrapbook on students’ science visual literacy.

Abstract

Kegiatan penambangan baik tambang batubara, bijih maupun batuan akan berakhir dan pada beberapa kasus meninggalkan lubang bekas tambang yang dijadikan sebagai danau pascatambang (pit lake). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memprediksi pembentukan danau pascatambang yang dapat digunakan untuk mengestimasi laju dan durasi/waktu pengisian air danau yang terbentuk. Pit D2 Site Binungan 01 merupakan lokasi penelitian yang terletak di antara dua sungai utama yaitu Sungai Kelay dan Sungai Binungan. Sungai Kelay memiliki panjang ±259 km, lebar 128 meter dengan kedalaman ±25 meter. Debit Sungai Kelay 928,22 m³/s hingga 1539,32 m³/s dengan kecepatan aliran 0,540 m/s. Sungai Binungan memiliki panjang ±35 km, lebar sungai 15,9 meter dengan kedalaman ±2,8 meter. Debit Sungai Binungan 117,39 m³/s hingga 304,30 m³/s dengan kecepatan aliran 0,640 m/s. Pengisian danau pascatambang dengan menggunakan air sungai masih jarang dilakukan, sehingga penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi salah satu acuan atau pedoman untuk reklamasi pascatambang di Indonesia. Simulasi pengisian dengan mengandalkan Sungai Kelay secara terus-menerus akan berlangsung selama 18 bulan sejak pengisian pertama dengan mengalirkan debit sungai sebesar 2 m³/s. Simulasi pengisian dengan mengandalkan Sungai Kelay ketika banjir akan berlangsung selama 16 bulan sejak pengisian pertama dengan mengalirkan debit sungai 2,75 m³/s. Simulasi pengisian dengan mengandalkan Sungai Binungan secara terus-menerus akan berlangsung selama 25 bulan sejak pengisian pertama dengan mengalirkan debit sungai sebesar 1,5 m³/s. Simulasi pengisian dengan mengandalkan Sungai Binungan ketika banjir akan berlangsung selama 18 bulan sejak pengisian pertama dengan mengalirkan debit sungai 1,85 m³/s.
