Abstract

Science learning in school can be applied by connecting the material in the learning with real life. However in fact science learning process in SMP Negeri 10 Magelang has not emphasized students’ activity to relate science to real life. Learning science using CTL guided inquiry-based model implement the learning in where teacher provides initial questions related issues or events in everyday life, then students do experiments to prove concepts of science guided by teacher.The purpose of this research is to determine the effectiveness the model in topic of learning of chemicals in life to improve students’ learning outcomes and activity. This research was a quasi-experimental research. The research was conducted in SMP Negeri 10 Magelang with 8th grade students as research subjects. The sample in this study was taken using purposive sampling technique then resulting VIIIA as experiment group and VIIIC as control group. The result shows that experiment group’s learning outcomes increased with N-gain value of 0.62 in the medium criteria. Experiment group’s average of learning outcomes is higher than control group based on the calculation t test with tcount ≥ ttable (5.42 ≥ 1.67). Experiment group’s activity also increased every meeting, first meeting was 36.9% in less active criteria, the second meeting increased to be quite active of 60.5%, the third meeting was in the active criteria of 78.2%, and the fourth meeting was 81.4% in very active criteria. It can be concluded that the CTL guided inquiry-based model is effective to improve students’ learning outcomes and activity.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menyusun perangkat pembelajaran berpendekatan saintifik. Penelitian dirancang dengan metode penelitian tindakan kelas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah diperoleh, dapat disimpulkan penerapan critical review terhadap buku guru IPA kurikulum 2013 dapat mengembangkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menyusun perangkat pembelajaran berpendekatan saintifik. The research to develop students’ ability to formulate scientific approach learning. The study was designed with the method to action research. Based on the results that have been obtained, can be concluded the application of the critical review of the 2013 book science teacher curriculum can develop students’ ability to formulate scientific approach learning.

Abstract

Tantangan yang harus dihadapi dalam mengajar Bahasa Inggris di pada mahasiswa selain jurusan Bahasa Inggris adalah tingkat pemahaman kosakata yang rendah. Hal tersebut berpengaruh pada pemahaman materi mereka, berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut metode schoolyard inquiry digagas untuk membantu meningkatkan pemahaman mereka dalam memahami science vocabulary sebagai metode alternative untuk membantu mereka belajar. Schoolyard inquiry adalah metode belajar kosakata secara mandiri di luar kelas. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman science vocabulary mahasiswa Pendidikan IPA FMIPA Unnes mengingkat secara signifikan dan mencapai tingkat tinggi pada level pemahamannya. Melalui metode ini mahasiswa juga dapat mengintegrasikan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan metode saintifik. Mahasiswa juga memberikan respon positif terhadap metode schoolyard inquiry  ini. The challenge that should be faced of teaching English for non English department students is the low level of students’ vocabulary mastery. It affects their comprehension of material, therefore to help students to master the science vocabulary schoolyard inquiry method was proposed to be used as alternative method to improve students’ vocabulary mastery. Schoolyard inquiry is a method of independent learning that is conducted outside the class. The result showed that the students’ science vocabulary mastery improved significantly most of students reached high level of science vocabulary mastery. Through Schoolyard Inquiry method Students were be able to learn English by applying the scientific skill. The students also gave positive responses of learning vocabulary by using alternatif method of schoolyard inquiry.

Abstract

Komitmen nasional tentang perlunya pendidikan karakter dapat diimplementasikan dengan integrasi pendidikan karakter dalam pembelajaran, salah satunya yaitu pembelajaran IPA. Integrasi pendidikan karakter di dalam proses pembelajaran dilaksanakan mulai dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, hingga evaluasi pembelajaran. Salah satu pendekatan yang digunakan untuk menanamkan pendidikan karakter yaitu pendekatan kontekstual.   National commitment on the need for character education can be implemented with the integration of character education in learning, one that is science learning. The integration of character education in the learning process carried out starting from the planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning. One approach that is used to impart character education that is contextual approach.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of digital science scrapbook on students’ science visual literacy. Digital science scrapbook was designed to teach junior high school students, and the instrument was designed to measure the level of visual literacy before and after the treatment. This study employed a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The population was junior high school students. The convenience sampling method was chosen to carry out the pilot study on 25 students in SMP 9 Salatiga. The visual literacy course was based on the ACRL Visual Literacy Competency Standards. The differences in visual literacy levels were measured through 30 items of the visual literacy test. After conducting paired sample t-test on the data, differences between pretest and posttest were found. From the findings, significant differences in pretest and posttest scores were found. It can be concluded that digital science scrapbook is effective to train digital literacy in science. The novelty of this research is the use of digital science scrapbook on students’ science visual literacy.
