Abstract

Not a few Muslim communities in Indonesia reject the concept of pluralism, even the MUI itself has issued a special fatwa on the prohibition of this understanding. They assume that pluralism is against Islam, because there is a tendency to equate Islam with other religions. Pluralism is also widely understood as a form of ideology that seeks to justify all religions. Thus, people can change religion as they wish at any time, like people change clothes. Contemporary era Indonesia also witnessed a polemic around this issue. Misunderstanding of the concept of pluralism has at some level created two poles of Islamic understanding between the pros and cons of this concept. Nahdlatul Ulama’ (NU) and Muhammadiyah were even divided internally in their communities. This article will examine through a review of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) related to the meaning and nature of pluralism. This research becomes relevant because in addition to the polemic that still exists in this concept, on the other hand the diverse social realities of Indonesian society, also requires an understanding that needs to prioritize tolerance and respect for differences.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the process of religious character development in students with special needs and identify the specific religious traits developed at Pondok Pesantren Salafiyyah Nurul ‘Ulum Gresik. This study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. The findings showed that religious character formation in students with special needs occurred through three stages: the learning stage, the awareness formation stage, and the habit formation stage. The religious traits developed include worship (demonstrated by their ability to perform obligatory and sunnah prayers), jihad (determination, reflected in their willingness to worship, study, and help others), discipline (seen in their commitment to learning and religious practices), independence (evident in their ability to manage daily tasks without relying on others), and social care (shown through their concern for others and the environment.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji proses internalisasi nilai-nilai Islam moderat di Pondok Pesantren Al-Fattah Al-Ausath Lamongan serta dampaknya terhadap perilaku keagamaan santri. Menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi untuk memperoleh pemahaman mendalam mengenai bagaimana nilai-nilai tersebut diajarkan dan diamalkan dalam lingkungan pesantren. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai inti seperti tawassuth (kebermoderatan), tasamuh (toleransi), keadilan, kesetaraan, dan musyawarah secara sistematis diajarkan dan dipraktikkan melalui kegiatan sehari-hari dan interaksi. Upaya ini berhasil membentuk karakter santri yang moderat, inklusif, dan harmonis secara sosial, yang berkontribusi pada partisipasi positif mereka dalam masyarakat beragam. Selain itu, proses internalisasi memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk sikap yang menghindari ekstremisme dan mendorong kohesi sosial di tengah perkembangan zaman. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa strategi internalisasi yang holistik dan berkelanjutan di pesantren sangat penting dalam membentuk individu Muslim yang moderat dan toleran serta mampu menghadapi tantangan masa kini.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the strategies employed by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in instilling multicultural values in students at SMA Negeri 1 Merauke, South Papua. The research method employed is a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing data collection techniques that include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the strategies implemented by PAI teachers include inclusive learning, contextual approaches, role models, and strengthening tolerance values ​​through religious and social activities. These strategies play an important role in building an attitude of mutual respect, cooperation between students across cultures, and reducing the potential for conflict caused by differences in background. This study concludes that PAI teachers have a strategic role in shaping students' multicultural character through an integrative and humanistic approach in the learning process. These findings contribute to strengthening multicultural learning in multiethnic areas such as Papua and are relevant to efforts to strengthen character education in Indonesia.
