Abstract

Dengue is one of the mosquito-borne diseases caused by dengue viruses (DENV), which has become endemic in most tropical and subtropical countries, including Indonesia. Since there is a lot of dengue incidence on children of age less than fourteen years old in Semarang, Indonesia, it is the interest here to analyze the different rates of infection among different age groups. A SIR-UV mathematical model with age structure in human the population is constructed to describe dengue transmission in Semarang from 2015 to 2018. In this study, we separated the human population into four age classes: children (0-4 years), youngster (5-14 years), productive adults (15-60 years) and non-productive adults (over 60 years). We use Particle Swarm  Optimization to obtain optimal parameters for the transmission rates based on the yearly incidence. The basic reproduction ratio (R0) is derived from the Next Generation Matrix and is evaluated by using the optimal parameters for data Semarang in 2015-2018. Numerical simulation results show that the number of dengue incidence is in a good agreement with the actual data in Semarang for 2015-2018.

Abstract

An interaction model for the Pacific salmon and bear population in British Columbia is discussed here. The phenomenon is shown during the salmons period of migration back to their birthplace river at the end of their life. During this returning home, a large number of bears from the nearby state come and prey on them. This predation of salmon before spawning is suspected as the cause of the decline in Salmon production. Here a dynamical model involving a specific predator-prey type interaction between Salmon and Bears is constructed in the form of a non-autonomous dynamical system, in which the transition rate from the adult state of salmon to the spawning state is positive only in the month of migration. Dynamical analysis for the stability of the coexistence equilibrium for the autonomous case is shown and sensitivity analysis for the non-autonomous the case is done numerically.

Abstract

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic continues to spread aggressively worldwide, infecting more than 170 million people with confirmed cases, including more than 3 million deaths. This pandemic is increasingly exacerbating the burden on tropical and subtropical regions of the world due to the pre-existing dengue fever, which has become endemic for a longer period in the same region. Co-circulation dengue and COVID-19 cases have been found and confirmed in several countries. In this paper, a deterministic model for the coendemic of COVID-19 and dengue is proposed. The basic reproduction ratio is obtained, which is related to the four equilibria, disease-free, endemic-COVID-19, endemic-dengue, and coendemic equilibria. Stability analysis is done for the first three equilibria. Furthermore, a condition for coexistence equilibrium is obtained, which gives a condition for bifurcation analysis. Numerical simulations were carried out to obtain a stable limit-cycle resulting from two Hopf bifurcation points with dengue transmission rate and COVID-19 transmission rate as the bifurcation parameter, representing a stable periodic coexistence of dengue and COVID-19 transmission. We identify the period of limit cycle decreases after reaching the maximum value.

Abstract

Non-linear SVM functions to modify the kernel in the SVM. Each kernel function in linear and non-linear SVMs has several parameters that are used in the classification process. SVM is a method that has advantages in classification, but there are still obstacles in selecting optimal parameters. This research investigates the effect of parameter variations on SVM classification performance on the COVID-19 dataset, using linear, RBF, Sigmoid and polynomial kernels. The analysis shows that the polynomial kernel is superior with the highest performance compared to other kernels. The highest accuracy of 77.57% was achieved with a combination of C values ??of 0.75 and Gamma of 0.75, and an F1-Score value of 76.67% indicating an optimal balance between precision and recall. The performance stability produced by the polynomial kernel provides advantages in classifying the COVID-19 dataset, with more controlled fluctuations compared to other kernels. The interaction between the C and Gamma parameters shows that a Gamma value of 0.75 consistently provides good results, while adjusting the C parameter shows more controlled performance variations. This confirms that appropriate Gamma parameter settings are key in improving the accuracy and consistency of SVM model predictions in this case.

Abstract

Community service activities held at Dewi Sartika Bandung Kindergarten School are based on several areas for improvement in publicizing the school's activities to the community. The school only had social media such as Instagram and Facebook during its establishment. Another shortcoming is the documentation of new student registration, which still uses registration forms, hard copies of family cards, and identity cards of prospective students' parents. The effectiveness of document storage could be improved. It is still prone to data loss, so it is necessary to have digital data storage to overcome these shortcomings by creating a website that is integrated with digital prospective student data collection. The method applied to measure success in this community service activity is quantitative method, namely giving a questionnaire which is then calculating to obtain a percentage value of success from this activity.  The results of community service activities carried out at the school are in the form of a website that can be accessed by teachers, parents of students, prospective school students, and public society and is expected to help with administrative work at the Dewi Sartika Bandung Kindergarten. The percentage of success of the website that has been created is in the “sufficient/normal” category, which is represented by a percentage value of 46.5 %.

Abstract

Karasak Village, Ciheulang Village, Ciparay District, Bandung Regency, still faces challenges, including low digital literacy and limited use of information technology to support the development of the village's potential. This condition has implications for the limited ability of the younger generation to produce and distribute creative content that can strengthen local identity and increase village competitiveness in the digital realm. To address these challenges, the community service team implemented a training program targeting Youth Karang Taruna on December 15, 2024. The training materials were comprehensively designed, covering the use of social media, talent modules, storytelling, on-camera communication, video shooting techniques, and music and video editing. The method employed was a combination of theoretical instruction, direct practice, and interactive mentoring, enabling participants to produce digital content products independently. Evaluation of the activity was conducted through the distribution of questionnaires, with the results showing that 94% of participants agreed or strongly agreed with the usefulness of the training. These findings confirm that the activity was effective, well-received by participants, and has the potential to encourage increased digital literacy capacity and creativity of youth in creating content based on local potential, ready for publication on social media.
