Abstract

ABSTRACT                                                        A Chronic energy deficit (CED) during pregnancy is characterized by inadequate protein and calorie intake and is linked to adverse outcomes for both the mother and the unborn child. A woman is more likely to get chronic energy deficiency (CED) if her LILA (upper arm circumference) is ≤ 23.5 cm. According to the Jambi City Health Office, in 2020, 520 women said that they regularly lacked sufficient energy, and that number increased to 597 in 2021. This research aims to determine whether there is a correlation between maternal education during pregnancy and employment during pregnancy and the incidence of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) at the Putri Ayu Health Centre in the year 2023. This study used a type of quantitative research with a retrospective approach. The study's population consisted of pregnant women who had checked their pregnancies at the Putri Ayu Health Centre for a LILA test between October and December 2022 and the sample used was 61 of these women who were chosen at random to take part in the study's sample. Data collected using a simple random sampling strategy was analyzed using the chi-square test. Data analysis with the chi-square test reveals no association between maternal education and the prevalence of CED in pregnant women with a (p-value>0.063) but there was an association between maternal employment and the prevalence of CED in pregnant women with a (p-value<0.046). At the Putri Ayu Health Centre in 2023, it was found that although motherhood during pregnancy was linked to a greater incidence of CED, there was no association between maternal education and the prevalence of CED in pregnant women. This research was conducted with the hope that moms would utilize it as a resource and read it to get more understanding and information to reduce the incidence of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) every year. Keywords: Education, Work and Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED).
