Abstract

The low ability of writing expositional texts, low reading habits, and the motivation ofstudents in grade X SMA Negeri 2 Padang behind this research. The purpose of the studydescribes the amount of the contribution of reading habits and motivation to learn the abilityto write exposition of text students of class X SMA Negeri 2 Padang. The research type isquantitative by using descriptive method and correlation design with population 274 peopleand sample 74 students. Sampling technique is done by random sampling. The instrument ofthis research is questionnaire and performance test. Technique analyze research data usingPearson Product Moment correlation test (PPM), double correlation test, t test, F test, anddeterminant coefficient formula. The results of the study illustrate that there is a habit ofreading and motivation to learn together to contribute and a significant relationship to theability to write exposition class X SMA 2 Padang.Keywords: Reading Habit, Learning Motivation, Writing Ability

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Persiapan menyusui merupakan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pada ibu hamil untuk memberikan ASI pada bayi tanpa tambahan makanan atau minumam apapun kecuali obat dan vitamin, selama 6 bulan berturut-turut. Kasus rendahnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan persiapan menyusui pada ibu hamil setiap tahun meningkat. Berdasarkan Data dan Informasi Profil Kesehatan Indonesia tahun 2022 cakupan ASI Eksklusif meningkat menjadi 55,4 % namun data dari Dinkes Kota Padang tahun 2022 angka cakupan ASI Eksklusif sebesar 73,7%. Hal ini jauh dibawah target nasional sebesar 80%. Persiapan pemberian ASI sebaiknya mulai dilakukan saat ibu hamil secara fisik dengan cara memperhatikan nutrisi, istirahat cukup, serta mempersiapkan payudara dengan melakukan perawatan payudara. Persiapan secara psikologis dengan meyakini bahwa dirinya siap untuk menyusui, mampu menghasilkan ASI yang cukup untuk bayinya serta mendapat dukungan dari lingkungan sekitar dan petugas kesehatan. Tujuan: Untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan ibu hamil tentang persiapan menyusui menggunakan model Pelatihan Direct Instructional yang merupakan salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan ibu hamil tentang persiapan menyusui, agar ibu hamil memiliki pengetahuan dasar untuk menghasilkan ASI yang baik. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan quasi ekperimen. Data menggunakan kuisioner dan lembar observasi. Uji statistik menggunakan uji t-test. Analisis data disajikan untuk mengambarkan Pengaruh Pelatihan Model Direct Instructional Terhadap Pengetahuan dan Keterampilan Ibu Hamil tentang Persiapan Menyusui Di Klinik Idaman Kota Padang. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, ada perbedaan pengetahuan dan keterampilan ibu hamil dalam mempersiapkan diri menyusui setelah diberikan pelatihan direct instructional (p = 0.000). Kesimpulan: Penelitian diharapkan dapat memberikan manfaat secara langsung dengan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan ibu hamil dalam mempersiapkan diri untuk menyusui sebelum melahirkan, serta meningkatkan angka pemberian ASI eksklusif pada bayi di Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between reading comprehension of short story texts and short story writingskills in students. Reading comprehension is a very important skill in the process of learning language and literature, becausethrough reading, students can understand the structure, theme, and style of language used in short story texts. On the other hand,writing skills are a form of expression that shows the extent to which students are able to internalize and reproduce the elementsthey have learned through reading. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational survey method to analyze dataobtained from a number of high school students in several schools in Padang. The sample of this study consisted of 100 studentswho were selected randomly. The research instruments used included a short story reading comprehension test and a short storywriting skills test. The reading comprehension test includes questions that test students' abilities in understanding the storyline,characterization, theme, and use of language in short stories. While the writing skills test assesses students' abilities in creatingshort stories that are coherent, original, and in accordance with the rules of short story writing. The results of the study showed asignificant positive relationship between reading comprehension of short story texts and short story writing skills. Data analysisshows that students who have a good understanding of short story texts tend to have better short story writing skills compared tostudents with low reading comprehension. In detail, it was found that aspects of comprehension such as understanding the plotand characterization have a greater contribution to short story writing skills, compared to other aspects such as understanding the theme and style of language. This study also revealed that reading comprehension of short story texts not only affects writingskills in terms of structure and plot, but also affects creativity and originality in writing short stories. Students who understandshort story texts better tend to be better able to develop creative ideas and produce more interesting and in-depth stories. Theimplications of this study indicate that teaching reading comprehension of short story texts in schools should be given moreattention and improved, considering its significant impact on students' short story writing skills. Teachers are expected to providemore opportunities for students to engage in reading activities and discussions of short story texts, as well as provide constructivefeedback to improve their writing skills. In addition, this study also suggests that special training be held for teachers to teacheffective techniques in developing reading comprehension and writing short stories. Overall, this study confirms the importanceof integration between reading and writing activities in language and literature teaching, and encourages efforts to improve thequality of learning in this area. By understanding the relationship between reading comprehension of short story texts and shortstory writing skills, it is hoped that students can achieve higher competence in the field of literature and be able to expressthemselves better through writing.

Abstract

Writing is a crucial skill that students need to develop. In the process of writing, both writing techniques and reading habits play significant roles in shaping students' writing abilities. Therefore, selecting an appropriate teaching method is essential. The Estacoll technique can be employed as an alternative approach in teaching writing. This study aimed to examine the impact of the Estacoll technique on students' ability to write recount texts. The research utilized a quasi-experimental design, targeting eleventh-grade students in senior high schools. Two classes were randomly selected as the study sample. During the intervention, the experimental group was taught using the Estacoll technique, while the control group participated in small group discussions. The objective was to enhance the recount text writing skills of eleventh-grade students through the application of the Estacoll technique. This method serves as a strategy to improve students' knowledge and ability to produce well-structured recount texts. The study employed quasi-experimental methods, collecting data through writing tests and questionnaires. Statistical analysis was conducted using a t-test to evaluate the results. The data analysis aimed to demonstrate the effect of the Estacoll technique and reading habits on the recount text writing skills of eleventh-grade students. The findings revealed significant differences in students' writing abilities after the application of the Estacoll technique. In conclusion, this research highlights the potential of the Estacoll technique to offer students more opportunities to enhance their writing skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the application of the PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) method on students' learning motivation and lecture outcomes in the Indonesian Language course. The PQ4R method is a learning strategy that combines various stages of information processing with the aim of improving understanding and retention of the material studied. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, involving two groups of students: the experimental group that receives treatment using the PQ4R method and the control group that uses the conventional method. The sample of this study consisted of 60 students, who were randomly selected from the first-semester student population at a university. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires to measure learning motivation and learning outcome tests developed by researchers. Data analysis was carried out using statistical analysis techniques, namely t-tests to compare motivation and learning outcomes between the two groups. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in terms of learning motivation and learning outcomes. The group of students who used the PQ4R method showed a higher increase in learning motivation compared to the control group. In addition, the results of the experimental group lectures were also significantly better than the control group, which indicates the effectiveness of the PQ4R method in improving the understanding and retention of lecture materials. The conclusion of this study is that the PQ4R method has a positive influence on student motivation and learning outcomes in Indonesian Language courses. The implications of this study show that the application of the PQ4R method can be an effective alternative learning strategy to improve the quality of learning in higher education, especially in courses that require in-depth understanding and high material retention. Further research is suggested to explore the application of this method to other courses and with a more diverse population.
