Abstract

The message of criticism can be conveyed in various ways, one of which is through the medium of poetry. As a literary work, poetry conveys a message in a series of beautiful languages, short but full of meaning, and able to touch the feelings of its readers. This research examines a poem entitled Selfish by Misnawati. In this poem, there is a social critique of the phenomenon of selfishness that occurs in modern society without leaving aesthetic value with the use of metaphors that can touch the reader's feelings. This study aims to explore the use of metaphors in poetry that convey social criticism and its implications for learning literary works. The method used in this study is a literature study with a semiotic design to identify the metaphorical meaning contained in the poem. Analysis data is in the form of words, phrases, or expressions that contain metaphors. The results of this study show that the use of metaphors in this poem was created to strengthen the message or meaning of social criticism so that it can foster social awareness, feelings of empathy, critical thinking, develop creativity, and foster the reader's sense of aesthetics. The implications of these findings can be used in literary learning in the framework of (1) fostering students' social awareness, (2) improving students' literary ability, (3) arousing student empathy, (4) developing student creativity, and (5) fostering students' critical awareness.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the description of the process of implementing serial picture media with a chain story technique so that it can improve the speaking skills of class IV students of SDN 5 Palangka and to determine the improvement of students' speaking skills through the application of serial picture media with a chain story technique in class IV students of SDN 5 Palangka. This study was conducted using classroom action research carried out at SDN 5 Palangka. The subjects of this study were class IV students of SDN 5 Palangka in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The data collection technique used was Observation and Test Data analysis using classical value percentage calculations with a success indicator of 70% for student learning outcomes. The results of the study, namely the results of the initial speaking skills test, the average value was 63.42 with the criteria of being less achieved and classical completeness of 36.84%, this criterion is included in the very poor category, in cycle I the test results with classical values ​​became 63.15% and an average score of 70.15. In cycle II, there was an increase in learning outcomes, namely an increase to 89,48% with an average of 81,47, namely 16 people were in the completed category and 3 students were in the incomplete category. The implementation of learning activities by applying a series of picture media with a chain story technique in each teacher activity and student activity was also carried out well. The results of student activities in cycle I were 2.43 with a sufficient category, in cycle II there was an increase to 3.06 with a good category. The results of teacher activities in cycle I were 2.61 with a sufficient category then in cycle II there was an increase to 3.18 and a good category. This shows that teachers can manage learning by applying a series of picture media with a chain story technique well.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui deskripsi proses penerapan media gambar seri dengan teknik cerita berantai sehingga dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara peserta didik kelas IV SDN 5 Palangka dan mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan berbicara peserta didik melalui penerapan media gambar seri dengan teknik cerita berantai pada peserta didik kelas IV SDN 5 Palangka. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan di SDN 5 Palangka. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV SDN 5 Palangka Tahun Ajaran 2024/2025. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah Observasi dan Tes Analisis data menggunakan perhitungan presentase nilai klasikal dengan indikator keberhasilan 70% untuk hasil belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian yakni hasil tes awal keterampilan berbicara nilai rata-rata 63,42 dengan kriteria kurang tercapai dan ketuntasan klasikal sebesar 36,84% kriteria ini termasuk kategori sangat kurang, pada siklus I hasil tes dengan  nilai klasikal menjadi 63,15% dan skor rata-rata 70,15. Pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan hasil belajar yaitu meningkat menjadi 89,48% dengan rata-rata 81,47, yaitu 17 orang masuk kategori tuntas dan 2 orang peserta didik masuk kategori tidak tuntas. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pembelajaran dengan menerapkan media gambar seri dengan teknik cerita berantai pada setiap aktivitas guru dan aktivitas peserta didik juga terlaksana dengan baik. Hasil aktivitas siswa pada siklus I sebesar 2,43 dengan kategori cukup, pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan menjadi 3,06 dengan kategori baik. Hasil aktivitas guru pada siklus I sebesar 2,61 dengan kategori cukup kemudian pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan menjadi 3,18 dan kategori baik. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa guru dapat mengelola pembelajaran dengan menerapkan media gambar seri dengan teknik cerita berantai dengan baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengenai upaya meningkatkan green skills menggunakan model project citizen. Metode yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik SMK Muhammadiyah Palangka Raya dan SMKN 1 Palangka Raya kelas XI. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa perencanaan yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini yaitu memilah sampah sesuai dengan jenis limbahnya. Pada saat proses pembelajaran menggunakan model project citizen ini mengalami beberapa hambatan seperti menyesuaikan keadaan pembelajaran daring akibat covid 19 yang sedang melan-da seluruh komponen pendidikan sekarang, kesulitan dalam menjelaskan kepada peserta didik yang belum mampu menggunakan kelas online. Hal lainnya saat pelaksaan adalah perlu penjelasan lebih dalam kepada peserta didik dalam mengidentifikasi masalah green skills, menerangkan solusi dalam menerapkan green skills, dan upaya menerapkan green skills kepada peserta didik saat melakukan praktikum di laboratorium atau bengkel. Pada penelitian ini terjadi peningkatan green skills dalam aspek kemampuan memilah limbah, kemampuan analisis biaya, dan kemampuan meolah produk yang akan dibuat dengan limbah bekas. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil yang sudah dipaparkan dimana dari masing-masing siklus dari siklus I sampai siklus III mengalami peningkatan dalam aspek pengelolaan limbah dengan skor 82 (baik), kemampuan membuat produk dari bahan bekas dengan skor 3,7 (sangat baik) dan kemampuan mengalisis biaya produksi dari produk yang akan dibuat dengan skor 3,70 (sangat baik) terkait dengan greenskills pada praktikum peserta didik. This research is about efforts to improve green skills using the project citizen model. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of the study were students of SMK Muhammadiyah Palangka Raya and SMKN 1 Palangka Raya in class XI. The results of this study indicate that the planning carried out in this study is to sort waste according to the type of waste. At the time of the learning process using the project citizen model experienced several obstacles such as adjusting the state of online learning due to covid 19 which is currently engulfing all components of education, difficulty in explaining to students who have not been able to use online classes. Another thing when implementing is the need for deeper explanation to students in identifying green skills problems, explaining solutions in applying green skills, and efforts to apply green skills to students when practicing in a laboratory or workshop. In this study an increase in green skills in the aspects of the ability to sort waste, the ability to analyze costs, and the ability to process products that will be made with used waste. This can be seen from the results that have been described where from each cycle from cycle I to cycle III increased in aspects of waste management with a score of 82 (good), the ability to make products from used materials with a score of 3.7 (very good) and the ability to analyze the production costs of the product to be made with a score of 3.70 (very good) related to green skills in students practicum.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve junior high school students' narrative writing skills through the use of Huma Betang stories as a local wisdom-based learning medium. The noble values of Huma Betang, such as togetherness, tolerance, and mutual cooperation, are integrated into the learning material so that students not only acquire literacy skills but also a deeper understanding of culture. This activity was carried out through a series of creative writing training sessions, classroom mentoring, and the provision of learning modules based on the Huma Betang story. The methods used included interactive lectures, discussions, story exploration, and gradual narrative writing practice. The results of the activity showed that students were more enthusiastic in participating in the learning process, were able to develop story ideas in a more structured manner, and demonstrated improved skills in language, plot, and creativity. In addition, teachers gained an alternative innovative and contextual learning model. This program is expected to become a model for strengthening literacy based on local culture that can be replicated in other schools, as well as an effort to preserve the values of Huma Betang among the younger generation. Thus, this community service provides a real contribution to improving the quality of Indonesian language learning through a relevant and meaningful cultural approach.

Abstract

Purpose of the Study: Poetry offers not only aesthetic value but also potential as a learning tool that supports children’s language growth, literacy competence, and social awareness. However, poetry is still rarely positioned as a multidimensional pedagogical medium in elementary education. Therefore, this study aims to analyze how poetry functions as a medium for language development, literacy education, and social reflection in elementary classrooms. Methodology: This study used a qualitative descriptive design involving six purposively selected elementary schools. Data were obtained from five Indonesian language teachers, twelve students, classroom observations, and documentation of students’ poetry works. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, through data condensation, display, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured using source and methodological triangulation. Main Findings: The findings indicate that poetry improves linguistic competence, particularly vocabulary, diction, and figurative language understanding. Poetry also strengthens students’ literacy through close reading, interpretive discussion, and creative writing engagement. Furthermore, poetry becomes a reflective tool for students to express environmental issues, family dynamics, friendship, and cultural identity. Novelty/Originality of this Study: This study demonstrates that poetry is a multidimensional learning medium that simultaneously develops language skill, literacy depth, and socio-emotional awareness. The novelty lies in its integration of three learning outcomes within one instructional model. Implicationally, poetry-based learning can be adopted as an alternative strategy for teachers to create contextual, expressive, and character-oriented literacy practices in elementary schools.
