Abstract

Osteoarthritis  is  classified as  arthritis,  which  affects  15%  of  the  world's  population. Prevalence of osteoarthritis, including the high category of 2.3% to 11.3% is a musculoskeletal disease that often occurs at number 12 among all diseases. Estimated that the prevalence of osteoarthritis has increased doubly in 2020 as the population ages. Symptoms found in osteoarthritis are pain. Osteoarthritis is degenerative disease of the joint due to the breakdown of articular biochemical (hyaline) cartilage in the synovial joint of the knee that joint cartilage damaged. One of the sports that can be done by the elderly is cycling exercise, some of the benefits obtained from cycling exercise are strengthening muscles that function to maintain balance and increase the power of the muscles of the lower extremities by giving effect to blood circulation so that it can reduce the intensity of pain. The sampling technique purposive sampling to get 40 respondents. Quasi experiment design the techniques taken are times series design. The results showed effect of cycling exercise intervention on pain reduction in osteoarthritis which was felt in the elderly with the results ? = 0,000 or ? <? (0.05) minimum and maximum value pre intervention was 2 and 5 while the minimum and maximum value post intervention 1 and 3.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) affects 267 people out of every 100,000 in the United States each year, with a prevalence of 9.2% in women and 6% in men. Women are three times as vulnerable as men. Pregnancy can be a risk factor for CTS, which typically occurs in the first and third trimesters and is bilateral. Signs and symptoms will be persistent if CTS develops in early pregnancy and may recur in subsequent pregnancies. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can put you at a greater risk of developing CTS symptoms because the structure of the wrist enlarges and can put pressure on the nerves in the wristObjective: This research aims to identify risk factors for the occurrence of CTS in pregnant women. Early detection of risk factors for CTS needs to be done early in pregnancy to be able to make appropriate prevention and treatment efforts for pregnant women who experience CTS.Methods: TThis research employed an observational method in conjunction with quantitative analytical research. The population of this research included all pregnant women in the working area of Kedungwuni Health Center I and II in Pekalongan Regency. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling, with 108 pregnant women meeting the inclusion criteria. Data collection methods entailed interviews and documentation using questionnaires, Phalen's test sheets, and nutritionalstatus measuring tools such as the microtome and bathroom scale. The risk factors to be studied are the relationship between employment status, parity, the incidence of CED, nutritional status before pregnancy, and a history of the disease, with the incidence of CTS. Chi-Square and Odds Ratio was used in bivariate analysis, while multivariate analysis used logistic regression.scar. Significance was set at p<0.05.Results: The incidence of CTS is significantly related to employment status, nutritional status before pregnancy, CED incidence, parity, and previous medical history (p-value < 0.05).Conclusion: Starting from the strongest, the strength of the relationship shown by the OR results is employment status (OR 7,231), medical history (OR 6,214), and the incidence of CED (OR 3,428). Occupational status has the highest odds ratio, making it the most important factor in the occurrence of CTS in pregnant women in the Pekalongan Regency

Abstract

Current world data is estimated that there are 500 million people with an average age of 60 years and by 2025 this data will increase to 1.2 billion. The elderly have many declines in body physiology, especially those that affect balance control such as decreased muscle strength, and changes in body posture. The Gastrocnemius muscle belongs to the leg flexor muscle group which functions for flexion of the phalanges of the foot and plantar flexion of the ankle as well as the large muscles that support the body to maintain balance. Data processing used a qualitative descriptive approach. The data obtained in the form of primary data, namely age, gender and occupation by using questionnaires and direct interviews. Furthermore, the gastrocnemius muscle strength data was assisted using a manual muscle testing (MMT) measuring instrument and the identification of the risk of falling using a time up go to test (TUGT) measuring instrument. The conclusion is that the neuromuscular changes that occur in the elderly in the form of decreased muscle mass and atrophy of the leg muscles assisted by the nervous system when working to contract will result in decreased strength in the gastrocnemius muscle. As well as changes in somatosensory function in the form of proprioceptive disorders, will have a bad effect on the balance of the elderly. This happens because muscle strength and sensory systems are included in the components of balance. Poor balance typing can put you at risk of falling. This incident proves that the strength of the leg muscles, namely the gastrocnemius muscle, is associated with the risk of falling in the elderly

Abstract

Ketika manusia bertambah umur, jumlah massa otot tubuh mengalami penurunan.

Abstract

Sarcopenia is characterized by age-related losses in muscle strength and mass that contribute to mobility limitations and fall risk. This study assessed changes in lower-extremity muscle strength and anthropometric indicators following a combined strengthening and postural control program among older adults. A pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest study was conducted with 30 purposively selected adults aged ≥60 years in the Kedungwuni II Community Health Center area. Participants completed a four-week program delivered three times weekly. Muscle strength was assessed using Manual Muscle Testing (MMT), and lower-limb circumference was measured at five points around the patella. Paired changes were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Participants were predominantly women, with a mean age of 65.33 ± 4.46 years. MMT categories improved across the assessed muscle groups, with the largest reported effect sizes for the vastus lateralis, hamstrings, and vastus medialis. Reported anthropometric changes varied by measurement site. These findings provide preliminary evidence of short-term improvement in lower-extremity muscle strength following the program. However, the absence of a control group, the use of study-specific screening criteria, a small purposive sample, and the lack of direct outcome balance limit causal and clinical interpretation. Controlled studies using standardized sarcopenia criteria and functional outcomes are needed.
