Abstract

The production of cayenne pepper is one of the leading national horticultural commodities; the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) cayenne pepper production of 1.39 million tonnes in 2021; the number fell by 8.09% compared to the previous year of 1.5 million tonnes. Chilli production can be increased through plant programs. This and chili plants in Buru were conducted on Buru Island. In January – June 2023. This used a one-factor Randomise Design. The factors were four local varieties (accession Buru 1, Buru 2, Buru 3 dan accession Halmahera) and six improved varieties (variety Rama, Pelita, Dewata, Mahameru, Dompu, and variety Sret 3). 30 units of 20 plants in 3 sample plants in each plot. The results (1) 11 showed a high value of and high expectation in pepper growing, (2) The cayenne pepper varieties production quantitative, fruit weight, plant fruit weight, and number of fruit on the tree.

Abstract

Breadfruit is one of the types of fruit-producing plants on Yamdena Island, with high nutritional content and important carbohydrates for body health in improving food security, and it is abundant in tropical regions. This study aimed to determine the diversity of breadfruit germplasm based on observed morphological characters including tree shape, leaves, flowers, and fruit. The research was conducted from August to October 2023, located on Yamdena Island, Tanimbar Islands Regency. This study used a qualitative method to determin local breadfruit germplasm diversity from information and target plants during the field observation. Data were obtained from key informants interviewed in two sub-districts in several villages, namely Lorulun, Amdasa, Arui Bab, Lorwembun and Kilmasa Villages, as well as target plants for observation in the village with high genetic diversity of germplasm, namely in Arui Bab Village. The data analysis used descriptive analysis to describe germplasm characteristics and cluster analysis with Dice Distance to describe similarities between germplasms. The results of this study showed that there was a diversity of local breadfruit germplasm on Yamdena Island, consisting of eight local varieties, namely Kulur Silai Mafut, Silai Mafut Kuning, Silai Melaus, Fen, Sif, Yombik, In and Kulur Watin. There are three groups of local varieties. Group I consists of six local varieties, namely Kulur Sif, Silai Melaus, Silai Mafut Kuning, Watin, Silai Mafut and In; Group II consists of one local variety, namely Kulur Fen; and Group III consists of one local variety, namely Kulur Yombik.

Abstract

Peanuts are a legume with high protein content and an important strategic commodity. Exploration and evaluation of local germplasm to enrich genetic diversity still needs to be carried out for further use in plant breeding programs. One of them is local germplasm in Southwest Maluku Regency (MBD). This research aims to describe the appearance and diversity of agronomic traits of several local peanut accessions from Southwest Maluku. The research will take place from November 2022 to February 2023 at the Moa Nursery UPTD, MBD Regency. The design used was a completely randomized block design with a Variety factor consisting of 5 levels, and each level was repeated three times. The variety factor consists of four local accessions and one national superior variety, namely Tasia 2. The analysis used is analysis of variance between accessions and within accessions. If there is an influence of accessions, the analysis is continued with the Duncan Multiple Distance Test (UJBD), and evaluation of diversity in accessions uses descriptive analysis with boxplot graphs. UJBD shows that the growth of local accessions is relatively the same as the superior variety Tasia 2, and the production of the Putih Leti and Putih Kisar accessions is higher than Tasia 2. Boxplot analysis shows that the accessions Putih Kisar, Merah Leti, Putih Leti and Merah Kisar show diversity in plant height and number of productive branches.

Abstract

Genetic resources exploration and conservation of sweet potato germplasm is very important to respond to the increased fooddemand in the future. Therefore, the use of superior varieties with high yields represents one of the solutions. To produce superiorvarieties, gene sources are needed that are suitable for the breeding targets. As an initial step, this study was conducted to characterizesweet potato germplasms and to collect accessions or local varieties in Moa Island. Using the purposive sampling method observationand description were conducted based on characters of vine and root parts of the plants, and eleven accessions were found, those werePatatas Kuning A Patatas Kuning B, Patatas Madu A, Patatas Madu B, Patatas Maroke A, Patatas Maroke B, Patatas Maroke C,Patatas Gila-gila A, Patatas Gila-gila B, Patatas Gila-gila C, and Patatas Telor. Cluster analysis was performed using 20morphological characters, and a dendogram was generated which showed the degrees of similarities among the accessions. Theresults of this study showed that sweet potato in Moa Island diverse based on shoot and tuber morphological characteristics. Basedon observations of morphological and other visual characteristics, preliminary descriptions of the eleven accessions found wereproduced.
