Abstract

Baptism Church Indonesia (GBI) Ngembak uses Javanesse gamelan (traditional music accompaniment) to accompany the Sundays’ worship which is held every Sunday in the end month. The purpose of this research is to analyze the form of Javanese gamelan music in a worship liturgy of Baptism Church Indonesia (GBI) Ngembak. The research method used qualitative with case study research design. Data collecting techniques are observation, interview, and document study. To maintain its validity, the researcher uses the technique of source triangulation. While the technique of data analysis is done by the process of reduction, presentation, and conclusion (verification). The research findings show that the form of musical composition in one of worship songs in GBI Ngembak is a song titled Puji Nama-Nya (Praise His name) uses bar of 4/4, the types of melody is stepping and jumping. Its harmony is one voice although in the book of Nyanyian Pujian (Hymn) provides the harmony of Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass. The structure of musical form in Puji Nama-Nya song has two parts, they are part A and part B. and the lyrics of this song is a, a , a , a. This song uses a particular musical arrangement of Javanese gamelan accompaniment laras Pelog.

Abstract

Along with the dynamics of development, church music has also experienced extraordinary development. Meeting with many musical genres that are developing in society makes this music continue to be dialectic in such a way that it gives rise to new types of music that are used in Christian worship. In the development of the genre, it is increasingly difficult to distinguish between church music (liturgical music) and secular music, even though essentially, church music is different from secular music. Based on Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic theory, the writing below attempts to analyze the pasemon in church music lyrics. Although church music and secular music have the same material object, both have different formal objects. This difference in objects is what makes its representation and interpretation different in its pair. This pasemon ultimately makes church music inseparable from the understanding of Christian theology. This is because essentially, in the context of Christian worship, church music is a means and not an end

Abstract

Artikel ini adalah jenis penelitian kualitatif yang memanfaatkan pendekatan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan tentang implementasi musik dan teknologi dalam musik gereja. Terdapat peluang dan tantangan di dalam adopsi musik dan teknologi untuk pelayanan musik gereja. Hal tersebut tertuang di dalam hasil dan pembahasan. Hal-hal yang menjadi substansi di dalam implementasi musik dan teknologi dalam musik gereja ini adalah perlunya ketepatan analisis sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan teknologi dalam pelayanan musik gerejawi. Karena jika tepat dalam menganalisis dan menentukan pilihan maka akan berdampak positif dalam pengembangan pelayanan musik gereja dengan memanfaatkan teknologi musik. Diperlukan sumber daya manusia dan anggaran dana yang cukup memadai di dalam penggunaan teknologi untuk pelayanan musik gereja. Selanjutnya kita perlu memperhatikan secara serius terkait fungsi musik gereja sebagai sarana yang efektif untuk ekspresi iman, menguatkan jemaat, serta menjadi misi penginjilan di era digital sekarang ini.
