Abstract

This study aims to determine differences (1) curriculum structure; (2) industrial work practices; (3) graduate work readiness; and (4) the absorption of graduates between 3-year Vocational Schools and 4-year Vocational School building engineering expertise programs. The research method used was descriptive research with ex post facto approach and survey. Data collection techniques in this study used documentation, interviews and online questionnaires.  The results of this study are as follows: (1) the learning burden on 3-year Vocational High Schools is 5016 JP and 413 KD while the 4-year Vocational School is 6648 JP and 443 KD; (2) apprenticeship implemented at 3 Years Vocational School for 3 months and 4 Year Vocational School for 6-8 months; (3) 3-year SMK graduates 60% of whom are declared ready for work, while 4-year SMK graduates 71.80% of whom are declared more ready to work; and (4) 70% of 3-year vocational school graduates work in a field, while 92% of 4-year SMK graduates work in a field. This can explain that it will be more effective if the Vocational School is held with a 4-year SMK pattern.

Abstract

SMK 3 tahun dan SMK 4 tahun memiliki perbedaan durasi pembelajaran yang berimplikasi terhadap kesiapan kerja dan daya serap lulusan di dunia industri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan membandingkan tingkat kesiapan kerja serta daya serap lulusan SMK 3 tahun dan SMK 4 tahun pada Jurusan Konstruksi Gedung, Sanitasi dan Perawatan di Surabaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain deskriptif komparatif. Responden berjumlah 100 lulusan, terdiri atas 50 lulusan SMK 3 tahun dan 50 lulusan SMK 4 tahun. Instrumen berupa kuesioner 20 butir dengan skala ordinal tiga poin (ya=3, kadang-kadang=2, tidak=1). Analisis dilakukan menggunakan software Jamovi untuk memperoleh nilai rata-rata, simpangan baku, dan perbandingan antarkelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor kesiapan kerja lulusan SMK 4 tahun lebih tinggi pada seluruh aspek, khususnya tanggung jawab kerja (2,90 ± 0,28) dibandingkan SMK 3 tahun (2,63 ± 0,39), serta motivasi pengembangan diri (2,63 ± 0,37 vs 2,30 ± 0,46). Data tracer study menunjukkan bahwa 92% lulusan SMK 4 tahun bekerja sesuai bidang keahlian, sedangkan SMK 3 tahun sebesar 70%. Temuan ini memberikan bukti empiris awal yang menunjukkan kecenderungan lebih baik terhadap peningkatan kesiapan kerja dan relevansi bidang kerja lulusan. Secara kebijakan, hasil ini mendukung penguatan model SMK 4 tahun pada bidang konstruksi serta perlunya optimalisasi kemitraan industri dan literasi digital dalam kurikulum kejuruan.
