Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) local wisdom reflected in the folklore Kepulaun Riau viewed from the view of life (philosophy); (2) the local wisdom reflected in the Kepulauan Riau folklore is seen from the attitude of social life, counsel, and iktibar; (3) local wisdom reflected in Kepulauan Riau folklore as seen from ceremonies or traditional ceremonies; (4) the local wisdom reflected in the Kepulauan Riau folklore is seen from the principles, norms and rules of rule embodied into a social system; and (5) the local wisdom reflected in Kepulauan Riau folklore is seen from the habits, everyday behavior of social intercourse. The problem is analyzed based on folklore theory. The method used in this research is descriptive method of analysis. This object is collected by observation ; recording and interviews. Data analysis technique is done by content analysis technique. Based on the results of the study, folklore is still growing in Kepulauan Riau society. The folklore is so full of values. it also reflects local wisdom of local people who can show the pattern of customs and local cultural peculiarities. The findings of this study can be used as a basic backdrop for literary and cultural researchers to study the culture of Indonesia in general and Malay culture of Kepulauan Riau in particular. Furthermore, for the people of Kepulauan Riau itself, the findings is one of conservation efforts of Malay culture in Kepulauan Riau. In addition, the results of this study can be an alternative teaching materials, one of which can be arranged in Prosa Fiction textbook. Keywards: Local wisdom, Folklore, Kepulauan Riau

Abstract

This study is aimed to identifying four research problems related to the implementation of Genre Based Approach in the learning of writing argumentative texts. Those research problems are the implementation of Genre Based Approach in the learning of writing argumentative texts, the effectiveness of the implementation of Genre Based Approach in improving students’ writing skills, students’ writing skills after the implementation of Genre Based Approach, and students’ opinions and suggestions regarding the implementation of Genre Based Approach in the learning of writing argumentative texts. This study used a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test post-test.Data were collected by using writing tests and questionnaires. The subjects of this study were the fifth semester students of academic year 2012/2013 from Department of French Education, Indonesia University of Education. It was found that by using Genre Based Approach, the students read argumentative texts to enrich their knowledge, learn the examples of argumentative texts, wrote the argumentative texts in groups, and then wrote argumentative texts individually. The mean of post-testscores of the writing of argumentative texts increased about 26% (from 50,2 in pre-testto 63,35 in post-test). After the implementation of Genre Based Approach, students could write more vocabularies, could identify the events and experience clearly and more structured, and could make better arguments by explaining a fact or experience to support an argument. Based on data analysis, this study concluded that Genre Based Approach was effective to improve the students’ competence in writing argumentative texts. It is expected that this study will enrich studies regarding Genre Based Approach, and this approach can be implemented in the learning of writing all kinds of texts in class.

Abstract

AbstractThis is descreptive research aimed to describe beliefs in the Malay society in Bintan. The data of the study are oral informations derived from informen who are people indigenous Malay Bintan. The data were analyzed refering to folklore and Indonesian literary theory. The results of this study are: (1) belief of Malay people in Bintan related to the circle of human life; (2) belief of supernatural; (3) Beliefs of universe creation; and (4) the function of belief in the Society.Keywords: folklore, belief, Malay, Bintan Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan folklor kepercayaan rakyat pada masyarakat Melayu di Kabupaten Bintan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analisis deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini ialah tradisi lisan masyarakat Melayu di Kabupaten Bintan. Data bersumber dari masyarakat asli Melayu Kabupaten Bintan. Penelitian ini dirumuskan dengan teori folklor dan didukung oleh teori sastra Indonesia. Hasil penelitian ini berupa: (1) kepercayaan rakyat masyarakat berhubungan dengan lingkaran hidup manusia; (2) kepercayaan rakyat masyarakat mengenai alam gaib; (3) kepercayaan rakyat masyarakat mengenai terciptanya alam semesta dan dunia, dan (4) fungsi kepercayaan rakyat dalam kehidupan masyarakat.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kemampuan menulis ringkasan teks cerita siswa kelas VII SekolahMenengah Pertama Kota Tanjungpinang, Provinsi Kepulauan Riau. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian menggunakan teknik tes dengan melibatkan 30 siswa dengan kemampuan meringkas terbaik yang mewakili 15 Sekolah Menengah Pertama di kota Tanjungpinang yang diambil secara acak. Teknik analisis data menggunakan studi dokumen. Kemampuan menulis teks ringkasan dilihat dari lima aspek, yaitu: kesesuaian isi, ketepatan detail cerita, ketepatan pengembangan alur, ketepatan dalam kalimat, dan ketepatan gaya penuturan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa memiliki kemampuan sangat baik dalam meringkas teks cerita hal tersebut dilihat dari frekuensi nilai siswa, 23 siswa (77%) termasuk kategori sangat baik dengan perolehan nilai 80-100 dengan nilai rata-rata 81,5. Siswa memiliki kemampuan paling baik pada aspek gaya penceritaan dan kemampuan paling rendah pada aspek ketepatan kata dan tata kalimat.
