Living Hadis is a phenomenon of practice, tradition, ritual or behavior living in a society based on the rules of the Prophet Muhammad; this article is one of the practices of living hadis in Wali Songo Islamic Boarding School concerning the al-ayyam al-bidl fasting tradition. The practice departs from hadith's understanding of the al-ayyam al-bidl fasting advice (on white days, 13th, 14th, 15th, every hijri month). The focus of this study is to know the practice and history of the implementation of al-ayyam al-bidl fasting and explore how the santri and the society around Wali Songo Islamic Boarding School interpret the implementation of al-ayyam al-bidl fasting. This research is descriptive, that is to explain the living hadis in Wali Songo Islamic Boarding School systematically. The approach of this study is phenomenology. This study concluded that, first, the al-ayyam al-bidl fasting tradition is carried out by all santris of Wali Songo and the local society, that fast has been carried out since the establishment of Wali Songo Islamic Boarding School in 1993. On the third day of fasting, the Wali Songo Islamic Boarding School leader invites the santri and the society to break their fast together at one of the beaches in Situbondo and continue with the Maghrib and Isya’ prayer in a congregation. Secondly, the al-ayyam al-bidl fasting is one of the proofs of love for the Prophet by carrying out his sunnahs because the sunnah is not only known but also carried out. In addition, it is also a means to strengthen solidarity between santri and society.

Artikel ini menjelaskan pandangan hadis tentang kepemimpinan perempuan khususnya dalam bidang politik. Tema utama dalam artikel ini adalah penelusuran dan pemaknaan hadis terkait kepemimpinan perempuan yang menyatakan bahwa "Suatu kaum tidak akan beruntung, jika dipimpin oleh seorang wanita”. Dari penelusuran sanad, hadis ini berkualitas shahih, namun dari segi matan pemahaman hadis ini bersifat lokal atau temporal dan tidak bersifat universal. Hadis ini disampaikan sebagai respon pengangkatan putri Kisra, seorang perempuan yang secara sosial tidak mendapatkan legitimasi dari masyarakat, sehingga pemaknaan dari hadis ini adalah kepimpinan dalam politik dapat diemban oleh siapa saja dengan syarat memiliki kebijaksanaan, pendidikan dan leadership yang baik.

Ibn Jarir al-Thabari is a Qur'anic scholar who specializes in qiraah and Qur'anic sciences. In the field of tafsir, he has a spectacular tafsir titled jami 'al-Bayan fi Tafsir al-Qur'an, in which he uses qiraah to interpret the verses of the Qur'an, and the understanding of qira'at al-Thabari has a significant impact on the results of his interpretation. As a result, the purpose of this study is to ascertain the meaning of qiraah al-Thabari and its impact on the interpretation of Qur'anic verses in tafsir jami 'al-Bayan fi Tafsir al-Qur'an. As a consequence of this research, al-Thabari has numerous criteria that must be followed when picking qiraah, including the legitimacy of the chain, conformity to the Arabic language, and adherence to Ottoman tradition. Al-Tabari is quite picky about which qiraah references he uses in his interpretation. As a result, qiraah mutawatirah pays him close attention. According to Al-Tabari, qiraah mutawatirah must extend all the way to the source of qiraah. Qiraah mutawatirah must be supported by a chain of sanad that truly relies on the qiraah priest and on traditions that have well-known reputation, can be trusted, and must be absolutely muttasil with the Prophet Muhammad SAW as a person who received revelation from the Koran.

In Living Hadith Studies, there are three variants of traditions. There are written traditions, practical traditions, and oral traditions. The research talks about an oral tradition at Wali Songo Islamic Boarding School in Situbondo: Khatmul Hadith bil Hifzhi. It focuses on knowing the practice and interpretation of the rule of Khatmul Hadith. It is description research that systematically describes the practical of living hadith in Wali Songo Islamic Boarding School using a phenomenology approach with social action theory by Max Weber. The research concludes that, firstly, the Khatmul Hadith tradition is a practice of reading all of the hadiths in Riyadhus Shalihin by memorizing the hadith (bil hifzhi) and then reading the prays for the closure and also doing some discussions and questions about all around the interpretations of hadith from the boarding school caretakers. Secondly, the understanding of the Khatmul Hadith based on Maz Webers theory, there are four categories of the act, there is the traditional act as a form to conserve traditions of Meccas Islamic scholars, the affective action to show happiness when doing the discussions with the Caretakers and get good grades, the instrumentally rational act, as a practice of murajaah for the students, the values reasonable action, as for obtaining Allahs pleasures and the Prophets shariah, also receiving the blessings from the hadith readings.Keywords:Living hadith;Khatmul Hadith;Riyadhus Shalihin;Wali Songo Situbondo Islamic Boarding School

This article highlights about using Qur‟anic verses in the society‟s ritual called Rebo Wekasan in Sukoreno. Rebo Wekasan is the annual ritual that celebrated by Sukreno‟s people. This ritual is celebrated on the last Wednesday of Shafar. This ritual aims refusing the unlucky things that believed sent down on that day. This ritual usings some Qur‟anic verses, when praying tola‟ bala‟ and making the holy water. This article focuses on practicing and meaning of using Qur‟anic verses in Rebo Wekasan. This article used descriptive qualitative methods with etnograph‟s approach using Karl Manheim‟s sociology of science theory. This articles shows that there are some surahs and verses of Qur‟an that used in Rebo Wekasan when praying tala‟ bala‟, i.e.: Surah al-Kausar, al-Ikhlas}, al-Falaq, and al-Nas. When making the holy water the verses that used are Yasin verse 58, al-S{affat verse 130 – 131, al-Zumar verse 73, al-Ra‟d verse 24, and al-Qadr verse 5. Based on Mannheim‟s theory,There are three meanings of using the Qur‟anic verses in this ritual, those are; objective as a tradition, expressive as refusing unlucky things (bala‟), and documenter as a culture

Surah al-Fa>tih}ah is the opening surah of the Koran that contains the essencial knowledge of the entire surah in Koran. Learning the content of surah al-Fa>tih}ah means learning the whole Koran too. This article discusses about Djohan Effendi’s interpretation about Surah al-Fa>tih}ah: Research on book Pesan-pesan al-Qur’an: Mencoba Mengerti Intisari Kitab Suci. The core theme of this article is reveal Effendi’s interpretation about Surah al-Fa>tih}ah. The approach used in this article is analitical description (deskriptif analitis), it means to describe about Djohan Effendi’s interpretation about Surah al-Fa>tih}ah sistematically, objectively, and analitically. The result of this article is there are 4 (four) words those must be understood correctly, those are: Rabb, Rah}ma>n, Rah}i>m, and Ma>lik. These words explain the position of Allah as the God of universe (Rabb al-‘An), the God who create and keep it, explaining His relaition with human as manifestation of His Rah}ma>niyyah and Ra>h}i>miyyah, His unconditional love and mercies, realize human that they will be responsible their doing in front of Ma>lik Yaum al-Di>n, the King of Judgement Day.

The study examines the tradition of the khatmil Qur’an in P.P. Walisongo Situbondo. The focus of this study is to know the practice and meaning of khatmil Qur’an implemented on the night of Tuesday legi in P.P. Walisongo Situbondo. This research is descriptive, that is, to explain systematically the living Qur’an practices that occur in P.P. Walisongo Situbondo. This study used phenomenology approach with Karl Manneim's knowledge sociology theory. This study concluded that, first, the khatmil Qur’an activity implemented on the night of Tuesday legi in P.P. Walisongo Situbondo is not only followed by santri, but also followed by the surrounding societies. The reading of the verses of the Qur’an is done in the manner of bil hifdzi that is, reading the Qur’an without seeing mushaf. Secondly, in the imposition of khatmil Qur’an activitiy in P.P Walisongo, based on Karl Mannheim’s theory, was found three catagories of meaning, (1) objective meaning as a series of activities that perfomed by santri and society, from reading al- to prayer together; (2) expressive meaning as a motivation to understand the Qur’an, additional insights of knowledge, gaining blessing from the reading of the Qur’an and means to facilitate santri’s recitation; (3) the documentary meaning as a container in spreading and grounding the Qur’an.

This research describes the practice of reciting the Qur'an in the tradition of khatmil Qur'an at the Wali Songo Situbondo Islamic Boarding School. The focus of the study in this research is to find out the practice and meaning of the actors of the khatmil Qur'an tradition in prayer at the Wali Songo Situbondo Islamic Boarding School. This field research uses a qualitative approach. Data collection is done through observation interviews, and documentation. Observations were conducted for two months at the Wali Songo Situbondo Islamic Boarding School, namely from September to October 2023 and interviews with several informants who were directly involved in the implementation of khatmil qur'an while documentation was used to collect data related to the research theme. Karl Mannheim's sociology of knowledge theory was used to analyze the meaning of the actors in this practice. This study concluded two things; first, the practice of khatmil Qur'an in prayer is a test for tafidz students who have memorized 30 juz as a requirement for graduation of the Qur'an. In its implementation, the khatmil Qur'an activity in prayer is carried out overnight, namely after the isya' prayer until dawn. Second, the meaning of the practice of khatmil Qur'an in prayer based on Karl Mannheim's theory, three categories of meaning are found, namely, objective meaning as a series of bil hifdzi Qur'an recitation activities carried out by tahfidz students as a graduation requirement. Expressive meaning as ittiba' to the habits carried out by Usman bin Affan, strengthening memorization, and testing the students' memorization. While the documentary meaning is the practice of cultivating the recitation of the Qur'an in everyday life.

Penelitian ini menggambarkan praktik pembacaan al-Qur’an dalam tradisi khatmil Qur’an di Pondok Pesantren Wali Songo Situbondo. Fokus kajian dalam penelitian ini adalah mengetahui praktik dan pemaknaan pelaku terhadap tradisi khatmil Qur’an dalam shalat di Pondok Pesantren Wali Songo Situbondo. Penelitian lapangan ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Observasi dilakukan selama dua bulan di Pondok Pesantren Wali Songo Situbondo yaitu pada bulan September sampai Oktober 2023 dan wawancara kepada beberapa informan yang terlibat langsung dalam pelaksanaan khatmil qur’an sedangkan dokumentasi digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data-data yang terkait dengan tema penelitian. Teori sosiologi pengetahuan Karl Mannheim digunakan untuk menganalisa makna dari pelaku dalam praktik ini. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan dua hal; pertama, praktik khatmil Qur’an dalam shalat merupakan ujian bagi santri tafidz yang telah menghafal 30 juz sebagai persyaratan untuk wisuda al-Qur’an. Dalam pelaksanaannya kegiatan khatmil Qur’an dalam shalat dilaksanakan selama semalam suntuk yaitu setelah shalat isya’ sampai menjelang subuh. Kedua, pemaknaan praktik khatmil Qur’an dalam shalat berdasarkan teori Karl Mannheim, ditemukan tiga katagori makna yaitu, makna obyektif sebagai serangkaian kegiatan pembacaan al-Qur’an bil hifdzi yang dilakukan santri tahfidz sebagai persyaratan wisuda. Makna ekspresif sebagai ittiba’ kepada kebiasaan yang dilakukan oleh Usman bin Affan, memperkuat hafalan, dan menguji hafalan santri. Sedangkan makna dokumenter adalah praktik membudayakan bacaan al-Qur’an dalam kehidupan sehari-hari
