Abstract

The increasing unemployment and social inequality in Indonesia have prompted the investigation of creative strategies to improve welfare and social fairness. This study examines Islamic sociopreneurship—a business model derived on the ideas of the Prophet Muhammad—as a viable approach to tackle these difficulties by promoting self-sufficiency and generating social benefit. The research employs thematic and historical methodologies to analyze essential sociopreneurial principles drawn from the Prophet’s activities, encompassing capital management, resource usage, opportunity recognition, ethical decision-making, and innovation. These principles are used in effective zakat programs administered by BAZNAS, an Indonesian organization dedicated to poverty alleviation. The research indicates that BAZNAS’s initiatives substantially boost the livelihoods of mustahik (zakat recipients) by improving housing, augmenting income, and fostering the development of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). This research distinctly emphasizes the congruence of prophetic concepts with contemporary zakat practices, illustrating Islamic sociopreneurship as a viable framework for social empowerment and communal advancement.

Abstract

The verses found in the Qur'an are not detached from their historical context, known as asbāb al-nuzūl, playing an essential role in the practice of interpreting the Qur'an. Known as a medieval commentator and the author of the book entitled Asbāb al-Nuzūl al-Qur’ān, al-Wāḥidī emerged as one of the critical scholars in examining and citing from the reasons for revelation of verses. This article attempts to elucidate the consistency of Al-Wāḥidī in the process of interpreting the Qur'an by focusing on one of his exegesis works, Al-Wasīṭ Fī Tafsīr Al-Qur’ān Al-Majīd. By employing the main principle of asbāb al-nuzūl as a tool for interpretation and historical tracing of the descent of Qur'anic verses, the author finds that in terms of the concept of asbāb al-nuzūl formulated by al-Wāḥidī, there is not much deviation from the main principle of asbāb al-nuzūl. However, regarding the use of asbāb al-nuzūl as an element in interpretation, al-Wāḥidī tends to be inconsistent in interpretations based on Asbāb al-Nuzūl al-Qur’an in his exegesis book, Al-Wasīṭ Fī Tafsīr Al-Qur’ān Al-Majīd.

Abstract

This article examines the use of dabt Asia-Anatolia in the Mushaf al-Ummah by comparing it with the Indonesian Standard Mushaf and the Pakistani Mushaf. The adoption of dabt Asia-Anatolia as an alternative regional system—similar to the al-Masyariqah and al-Magaribah—to accommodate both the Indonesian Standard Mushaf and the Pakistani Mushaf proves to be highly impractical. Through comparative and consistency-based methods, it has been demonstrated that the dabt Asia-Anatolia in the Mushaf al-Ummah still contains numerous inconsistent diacritical markings and tends to intermingle with the dabt al-Masyariqah. This contrasts with the Indonesian Standard Mushaf and the Pakistani Mushaf, which have established consistent diacritical systems and have maintained broader readability and independence for decades. Consequently, efforts to unify the Indonesian Standard Mushaf and the Pakistani Mushaf under the Mushaf al-Ummah framework are deemed ineffective. Instead, it is recommended that the Mushaf al-Ummah develop distinct variants, namely the Mushaf al-Indunisiy, Mushaf al-Ummah al-Pakistaniy, and Mushaf al-Ummah at-Turkiy, to accommodate the specific needs of each region independently.
