Abstract

This article explores the phenomenon of mythologizing Qur'anic memes on social media platforms, employing Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis as a theoretical framework. The focus of this study is the examination of the Qur'anic meme pertaining to the theme of women's deceit. The extent to which the interpretation of the Qur'an depicted in the meme gives rise to myths that obfuscate its original meaning will be examined. This study has a specific objective of addressing three inquiries: firstly, the manner in which verses are interpreted within the context of the meme depicting women's deceit; secondly, the myths encompassed within the meme illustrating women's deceit; and thirdly, the implications that arise from the mythologization of memes in relation to the interpretation of the Qur'an. To address these three concerns, this study employs a descriptive-analytical approach utilising Roland Barthes' semiotic framework. Consequently, the meme illustrates a myth that arises from the amalgamation of the interpretations of Al-Nisā'[4]: 76 and Yūsuf [12]: 28, suggesting that the allure of women holds greater sway than the allure of Satan. The perpetuation of the myth engenders a sense of cynicism towards women, thereby reinforcing the prevalence of misogynistic interpretations.

Abstract

The identification of the meaning of nafs wāḥidah, as produced by various interpretations through Adam, is claimed to be a biased interpretation mechanism based on certain orientations. This research aims to uncover the interpreters' orientation towards the text by situating the interpretation process as the interpreter's interaction with the text within a specific communication context. To achieve this objective, a qualitative method is employed in this research, utilizing a reception frame introduced by Wolfgang Iser. This study reveals that the interpreter's orientation towards specific meanings is constrained by the linguistic structure of the Qur'an, which has been schematized. This constraint on the interpreter's orientation occurs when seeking the contextual significance of the verse through syntagmatic and paradigmatic interconnections. The interpreter's relationship with the Qur'an within a specific communication context limits and shapes tendencies in the interpretation process, which is text-driven. In this context, the interpretation of the term nafs wāḥidah, in its various forms, does not exhibit any discernible biases towards producing meanings in alignment with the interpreter's preferences. Instead, the interpreter solely seeks contextual clues within the verse's structure, thereby associating the meaning of nafs wāḥidah with other terms in an interconnected context.

Abstract

The increasing unemployment and social inequality in Indonesia have prompted the investigation of creative strategies to improve welfare and social fairness. This study examines Islamic sociopreneurship—a business model derived on the ideas of the Prophet Muhammad—as a viable approach to tackle these difficulties by promoting self-sufficiency and generating social benefit. The research employs thematic and historical methodologies to analyze essential sociopreneurial principles drawn from the Prophet’s activities, encompassing capital management, resource usage, opportunity recognition, ethical decision-making, and innovation. These principles are used in effective zakat programs administered by BAZNAS, an Indonesian organization dedicated to poverty alleviation. The research indicates that BAZNAS’s initiatives substantially boost the livelihoods of mustahik (zakat recipients) by improving housing, augmenting income, and fostering the development of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). This research distinctly emphasizes the congruence of prophetic concepts with contemporary zakat practices, illustrating Islamic sociopreneurship as a viable framework for social empowerment and communal advancement.

Abstract

AbstractTeachers need to be more competent in understanding and implementing the value of energy-saving ethics, which affects the process of instilling its value in students. In fact, there are many subjects in Indonesia's national and religious education curriculum that contain the value of energy-saving ethics. The purpose of this research is to design a training and competency development program for Islamic school (madrasah) teachers integrated with the boarding school system (pesantren). The design stages included needs analysis, textbook analysis for Islamic Religious Education, Science, and Language in grades VII-IX, competency analysis, and curriculum and syllabus design. At each stage, we conducted interviews with Islamic Religious Education teachers, energy conservation instructor, curriculum development experts, and linguists. We also carry out benchmarking based on the curriculum and syllabus documents developed by training institutions. The research results led us to design a training program that emphasizes the ability to internalize religious ethical value messages related to energy-saving learning. The implementation uses a place-based education approach and a blended learning format that is highly flexible in terms of resource availability for teachers and schools. We discuss the implications of the research results, emphasize the use of local green energy issues and resources as learning resources, and establish partnerships with universities and human resource development institutions, as well as local teacher learning communities in the energy field. How to Cite: Rohmatulloh, Rohman, A., Rosenda, D., & Nadia, M.
