Abstract

Back Pain (Nyeri Punggung Bawah).Kata Kunci: LBP; Level aktifitas fisik; IMT; Jenis Kelamin; durasi duduk Abstract Low Back Pain (LBP) is a pain disorder that originates from the spine, nerves, and muscles in the lower back. There are 60 – 80% of the world's population affected by LBP during their lives. Low back pain sufferers also experience impaired functional abilities. Several factors related to the incidence of LBP include individual characteristics, for example age, gender, Body Mass Index (BMI), level of physical activity and duration of sitting. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between respondent characteristics, physical activity, duration of sitting, BMI, and the incidence of LBP in educational staff at the Cirebon College of Health Sciences. The research method is descriptive analytical research with a cross-sectional approach carried out on educational staff at the Cirebon Health Sciences College by conducting interviews and filling out questionnaires. The sampling technique used the cross-sectional formula with a sample size of 68 people. Data were analyzed using the chi square test.Research conducted from November 2023 to March 2024 showed that there was a relationship between gender and the incidence of LBP (0.014), there was a relationship between age and the incidence of LBP (0.044), there was a relationship between BMI and the incidence of LBP (0.033), there was a relationship between levels of physical activity with the incidence of LBP (0.020), there is a relationship between sitting duration and the incidence of LBP (0.034)The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant relationship including individual characteristics, Body Mass Index (BMI), Physical Activity and Sitting Duration with the incidence of LBP in education staff at the Cirebon Health Sciences College. Suggestions for the Cirebon STIKes College, it is hoped that they can routinely hold morning exercise once a week for employees to improve the quality of employee productivity as well as efforts to minimize the risk of Low Back Pain complaints. Keywords: LBP; Physical activity level; BMI; Gender; sitting duration

Abstract

Stroke remains a leading cause of disability worldwide, and rehabilitation strategies that enhance neuroplasticity are essential for functional recovery. VR has emerged as an innovative approach to motor control training, providing multisensory stimulation and increasing patient engagement. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of VR-based motor control training on serum BDNF levels and upper extremity motor function in stroke patients. A quasi-experimental two-group pretest–posttest design was conducted with 30 stroke patients recruited through purposive sampling, divided equally into VR and control groups. The VR intervention, delivered using Oculus Quest 2, consisted of four sessions (10–20 minutes/session, 2–3 times per week) incorporating modules for bilateral coordination, reaching, gripping, balance, and cognitive–motor dual tasks. Motor function was assessed using the WMFT, and serum BDNF levels were measured pre- and post-intervention using ELISA. Results showed that BDNF levels in the control group remained unchanged (1.24 ng/mL), while the VR group demonstrated a significant increase from 1.45 to 1.54 ng/mL (p < 0.0001). WMFT scores improved in both groups, but the improvement was greater in the VR group (38 ± 0.39 to 42 ± 0.39; p < 0.0001). These findings indicate that VR-based motor training effectively enhances serum BDNF levels and motor function in stroke patients. Further studies with larger samples, more intensive interventions, and long-term follow-up are recommended. Keywords: Virtual Reality, BDNF, Neuroplastisitas, Motor Function, Stroke
