Abstract

The prevalence of anaemia among adolescent girls in Indonesia is 18.4%. One of the main indicator targets is reducing the prevalence of anaemia is in the form of iron-folic acid (IFA) supplementation for adolescent girls. The research aims to analyze knowledge of female youth on anaemia and management of iron-folic acid supplementation. This study used a cross-sectional design, and it was conducted in 24 senior high schools in Cianjur Regency (high stunting area) and Depok City (low stunting area). The total sample of this study was 243 female youth. The study began from September 2019 to February 2020 for the 1st term and continued from October 2022 to March 2023 for the 2nd term. The quantitative result showed that there was a significant difference in knowledge about the frequency of providing the iron-folic acid supplement (IFAS) at school and the duration in a year that students must consume the IFAS between high stunting and low stunting (p=0.000). A significant proportion of female youth, 67.5% in high stunting areas and 71.7% in low stunting areas, exhibit insufficient nutrition knowledge, underscoring the necessity for a nutrition education initiative targeting high school students. The qualitative results showed the input-process-output of the IFA program have been administered for the last few years, providing several constraints in order to improve the IFA program management. Based on those findings, the IFA supplementation program provides a potential chance for addressing anaemia in female youth.

Abstract

Makanan cepat saji (fast food) merupakan makanan yang disajikan dalam waktu cepat dengan jenis makanan tinggi energi, lemak, natrium, dan rendah serat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan tingkat stres dengan frekuensi konsumsi fast food pada remaja di SMAN 3 Tambun Selatan saat pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain cross sectional. Jumlah sampel 150 responden, yang dipilih dengan metode simple random sampling. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis hubungan tingkat stres dengan frekuensi konsumsi fast food pada remaja di SMAN 3 Tambun Selatan saat Pandemi Covid-19. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner yang tersedia melalui google form yaitu, perceived stres scale (PSS) dan food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) serta dianalisis menggunakan uji Chi-Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa sebanyak 72% remaja memiliki tingkat stres sedang dan sebanyak 58,7% remaja memiliki frekuensi konsumsi fast food sering dengan p-value 0,086. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini tidak terdapat hubungan tingkat stres dengan frekuensi konsumsi fast food pada remaja di SMAN 3 Tambun Selatan saat Pandemi Covid-19.

Abstract

Balanced nutrition is important for a mother to know and implement; hence, optimal nutritional status for the family could be achieved. Households living in the area of the waste processing site may be exposed to the environmental challenges of implementing clean and healthy living behaviors. The study aimed to analyze the relationship between knowledge, attitude, and practices of balanced nutrition among the mothers of under-five children in the area of Bantargebang integrated waste processing site. The study design was cross sectional, with 140 mothers of under-five children participating in September 2022. The data was analyzed quantitatively using descriptive and Spearman correlation test. Results showed that majority of mothers have good knowledge, attitude, and practices of balanced nutrition. There were significant correlations between mothers’ knowledge-attitude (r = 0.170; p = 0.044) and attitude-practices of balanced nutrition (r = 0.291; p = 0.0001). Mothers with good knowledge, attitudes, and practices on balance nutrition may contribute to the optimal nutritional status of the children. In conclusion, mothers’ balanced nutrition practices were correlated with their knowledge and attitude.Keywords: Balanced nutrition, clean and healthy living behavior, mother of under-five children.

Abstract

Diarrhea is an infectious disease in children caused by the consumption of unsafe snacks. Based on the results of supervision conducted by BPOM RI found that 4% of food sold in the school environment contained hazardous materials. Low knowledge is one of the causes of unsafe snacks consumption in school children, providing nutrition education is one solution in increasing children's knowledge about safe snacks consumption. This study used an experimental method with a quasi-experiment research design with two groups pretest and posttest to determine the effect of nutrition education through puppet show media and flashcards on knowledge about safe snacks in elementary school children at SDN Wanasari 12 Cibitung. In statistical analysis, the Wilcoxon test was conducted to determine the increase in knowledge about safe snacks in the experimental group and the control group p-value = 0.0001

Abstract

Anemia defisiensi besi pada remaja putri berdampak pada kualitas hidup dan kesehatan reproduksi. Penelitian ini menganalisis frekuensi konsumsi pangan sumber, pendukung, dan penghambat zat besi dan kaitannya dengan kadar hemoglobin pada 120 siswi kelas 11 di Cianjur. Data dikumpulkan melalui food frequency questionnaire dan finger prick blood test, lalu dianalisis dengan uji t dan korelasi Spearman. Hasil menunjukkan 23,5% responden mengalami anemia. Ayam dan telur menjadi sumber zat besi hewani utama, serta kangkung dan bayam sebagai sumber nabati. Konsumsi pangan pendukung penyerapan zat besi masih rendah, sementara teh dan kopi yang menghambat penyerapan zat besi cukup sering dikonsumsi. Tidak ditemukan korelasi signifikan antara pola konsumsi dan kadar hemoglobin, kecuali pada jambu biji. Perbedaan antara kelompok dengan anemia dan kelompok dengan kadar hemoglobin normal tidak berbeda secara signifikan, tetapi kelompok kadar hemoglobin normal cenderung memiliki pola makan lebih baik. Diperlukan strategi peningkatan konsumsi zat besi heme dan edukasi pola makan yang mendukung penyerapan zat besi.

Abstract

Early menarche is the first menstruation in girls that occurs at the age of under 12 years. Early menarche is an important phenomenon that can affect the health and development of girls. Early menarche can cause several other health problems such as breast cancer in girls due to longer exposure to estrogen and progesterone. This study aims to analyze the relationship between nutritional status and physical activity with early menarche in school-age children in Bekasi City. This study was conducted in East Bekasi District, which is one of the districts in Bekasi City with a fairly heterogeneous female population with a sample of 122 female students taken using the consecutive sampling method. This study uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, which allows researchers to collect data simultaneously on independent variables (nutritional status and physical activity) and dependent variables (early menarche). Data were collected through questionnaires, and will be analyzed using appropriate statistical methods to determine the relationship between the variables studied.
