Abstract

This research was aimed to find out ?The Effectiveness of Memories and Draw Towards Students? Motivation in Reading Comprehension?. The research was experimental research in form of quasi-experimental and the design that was used was the non-equivalent control group design. The population of this research was the second grade students of SMP Al-Ashriyah Sesela which consisted of two classes. The samples were VIII A as experimental class, and VIII B as control class where experimental class was treated by using Memories and Draw, and control class was treated by using matching picture. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistic (mean score, median, mode, and standard deviation). The researcher found that the motivation of the second grade students in reading comprehension effective by using Memories and Draw technique by the increase of mean score of experimental class that is 50.2 in the pre-test and 73.6 in the posttest. The result of the research was significant because the t-test also showed that Memories and Draw method effective to improve students? motivation in reading comprehension especially in reading descriptive text, because the value of t-test = 2.705 > t-table = 1, 697. It means that memories and draw towards students? Motivation in reading comprehension at second grade of SMP Al-AsriyahSesela was accepted. Therefore, using Memories and Draw has  effective on the students? motivation in reading comprehension, so it is recommended to the teachers to use Memories and Draw to improve their students? motivation in reading comprehension.

Abstract

This research is analyzing a novel entitled Towards Zero by Agatha Cristie. The problem that will be analyzed is who are the characters in the novel and who are the main characters in the novel Towards Zero by Agatha Cristie. This study aims to find out the characters involved in the story of the novel Towards Zero, and who is the main character in the story of the novel. This study used the descriptive qualitative method. The characters in Agatha Cristie's novel Towards Zero include Mr. Treves, Andrew MacWhirter, Inspector Battle, Mrs. Amphrey, Sylvia Battle, Nevile Strange, Kay Strange, Lady Camilla Tressilian, Marry Aldin, Audrey Strange, Thomas Royde, Ted Latimer and Inspector James Leach. The main character in the novel Towards Zero by Agatha Cristy is Nevile Strange, a handsome, athletic, and rich man whose life is well-off.

Abstract

This research was aimed 1) To find the differences between students having high creativity and students having low creativity, 2) To identify the interaction between students’ creativity and 4x6 poster strategy in their writing mastery. The research was quasi experimental. In this research, represented factorial 2X2 Analysis of Variant (ANOVA) design. Next to that, this research deal with the third semester of English department program with the total number was 80 students in which it was assumed that they have not creative in writing. Next to that, the data collected by using verbal creativity test and questionnaire. The techniques of data analysis was used descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. In analyzing data of the research the researcher used t–test formula. Based on the analysis, it was gotten that t-test score was 2.58 with the degree of freedom (df) = 78 and t-table was 2.00 at the significant level =0.05 It means that the value of t-test was bigger than t-table. Alternative hypothesis is accepted (Ha) and Null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In conclusion, There is a significant effect of 4x6 poster strategies towards students' creativity  at FBMB UNDIKMA (10 pt).

Abstract

This thesis is aimed to know the figurative language in soledad song.The method of the research was descriptive qualitative, where in this research, the researcher as object of the study the key instrument the data gathering used four steps such as:  Documentation technique, identifying, coding and listening. The data analysis used data reduction,data display, and drawing conclusion or verification data. From the discussion it can be concluded that the lyric of Westlife’s song use six figurative language: (1) hyperbole (2) personification (3) metahor (4) paradox (5) symbol(6) paralellism. The researcher found fourteen expression from that and the most frequently appear is hyperbole and paradox. Therefore the conclusion of the research was six kinds of figurative language that appear in Soledad Song by westlife
