Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe: (1) the background behind the founding of Santi Budaya Art Gallery, Sukoharjo, (2) the education processes taking place at Santi Budaya Art Gallery, Sukoharjo, and (3) the role of Santi Budaya Art Gallery in preserving traditional culture in Sukoharjo Regency.The research is a qualitative descriptive research. The subject of research is the Santi Budaya Art Gallery in Kepuh Village, Nguter Sub-District, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java Province. The research is focused on the study of art education exposition. Data is collected by means of direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation study. The collected data is analysed in the frame of qualitative descriptive analysis technique. Data validation is gained through triangulation of source, specifically verifying data from various sources. The mentioned sources are outcomes of observation, interview and documentation study pertaining to Santi Budaya Art Gallery in Kepuh Village, Nguter Sub-District, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java Province.The research acquired results as follows: (1) organising dance education for any individual who wish to learn dancing in order to produce the next generation expected to be capable of preserving and acquainting dance, especially in Sukoharjo; (2) arranging dance performances aimed to maintain dance existence and entertain the community in the audience; (3) undertaking meetings with dancing experts to discuss all things related to the continuity of dancing and to keep in touch with dance artists; (4) pioneering dance studio management training in Sukoharjo, including planning, organising, motivating, conforming, evaluating and developing.
