Abstract

The purpose of this study were to describe: (1) the New Order government policies against the press, (2) the press orientation and position during the New Order government, (3) the media bans which occurred during the New Order government, (4) the impact of media bans which occurred during the New Order government, (5) the relevance of the research for current Indonesia history study. This research used historical method with the sources were interviews, primary and secondary written sources. Data collection techniques used interviews with the actors of history and literature studies in various libraries. The data analysis technique used was the historical analysis techniques with content analysis. The steps taken in the historical method were: (1) heuristic, (2) criticism, (3) interpretation, (4) historiography.The study results concluded: (1) the New Order government policy of press were preventive and repressive; (2) the press orientation and position during the New Order government era sourced by company administrative management and government role domination; (3) press banning during the New Order era started from authoritarian attitude and government policy deviation of press; (4) the impact of press banning in the New Order era were press depoliticization, commercialization, and deterioration of press and public relations with the government; (5) banning of the press during the New Order government relevated with information and political communication study in Current Indonesia History course material.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe: (1) the background behind the founding of Santi Budaya Art Gallery, Sukoharjo, (2) the education processes taking place at Santi Budaya Art Gallery, Sukoharjo, and (3) the role of Santi Budaya Art Gallery in preserving traditional culture in Sukoharjo Regency.The research is a qualitative descriptive research. The subject of research is the Santi Budaya Art Gallery in Kepuh Village, Nguter Sub-District, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java Province. The research is focused on the study of art education exposition. Data is collected by means of direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation study. The collected data is analysed in the frame of qualitative descriptive analysis technique. Data validation is gained through triangulation of source, specifically verifying data from various sources. The mentioned sources are outcomes of observation, interview and documentation study pertaining to Santi Budaya Art Gallery in Kepuh Village, Nguter Sub-District, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java Province.The research acquired results as follows: (1) organising dance education for any individual who wish to learn dancing in order to produce the next generation expected to be capable of preserving and acquainting dance, especially in Sukoharjo; (2) arranging dance performances aimed to maintain dance existence and entertain the community in the audience; (3) undertaking meetings with dancing experts to discuss all things related to the continuity of dancing and to keep in touch with dance artists; (4) pioneering dance studio management training in Sukoharjo, including planning, organising, motivating, conforming, evaluating and developing.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to enhance students? awareness of democracy and learning achievement in class XI IIS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Tawangsari Sukoharjo by utilizing the controversial issues in mass media in historical learning.This research is a classroom action research (CAR). The research was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of plan, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects were 35 students of class XI IIS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Tawangsari. Source data was derived from teachers, the students and the learning process. Data collection techniques implemented by conducting tests, observations, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Testing the data validity was by using triangulation techniques. Data analysis was conducted by using comparative descriptive analysis techniques.The results showed that; (1) the learning activities can be categorized went so well in the activities of teachers in teaching and students? learning activities in the classroom, so that the learning process goes well. Pre-cycle? achievement of learning activities was 69.50% increased to 74.78% in the first cycle and the second cycle increased up to 98.44%; (2) utilization of controversial issues in the mass media can enhance students? awareness of democracy and learning achievement in historical learning of class XI IIS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Tawangsari, showed from pre-cycle to the first cycle and from first cycle to second cycle. Pre-cycle students' awareness of democracy at 75.17% increased to 77.30% in the first cycle and in the second cycle increased up to 91.30%; (3) enhancment of student? learning achievement on pre-cycle at 1.85 increased to 3.20 in the first cycle and successfully developed into 3.89 point in second cycle with 100% completeness from minimum completeness criteria og history subject.The conclusion of the research of the historical learning based on the controversial issues in the mass media can increase students? awareness of democracy and learning achievement of class IIS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Tawangsari Sukoharjo.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to describe: (1) The history of the Api Abadi Mrapen Land; (2) The management of Api Abadi Mrapen Land during 1963-2008; (3)The management of Api Abadi Land as a culture legacy; and (4) The relevance of Api Abadi Mrapen Land to the learning of Local history subject.This research used historical method. There is four stage in process of historical research; heuristics, criticsm, interpretation, and historiography. Technique of analyzing the data used historical analysis, give priority to criticsm sharpness and data interpretation. The source of the research used primary resource and secondary resource.Considering the result of this study, the following conclusion can be drawn: (1) The history of the Api Abadi Mrapen land is influenced by two factors, political and social factors; (2) The management of Api Abadi Mrapen land during 1963-2008 includes: (a) the management of Api Abadi Mrapen land during 1963-2004, and (b) the management of Api Abadi Mrapen land during 2004-2008; (3) The management og Api Abadi Mrapen Land as a cullture legacy is physical management and non physical management; (4) The relevance of Api Abadi Mrapen land to the learningt of local history subject is its usage as teaching material for local history subject.

Abstract

This research is aimed at to know: (1) genealogy biography of Abdurrahman Wahid; (2) intellectual abroad of Abdurrahman Wahid when he was teenager; and (3) Abdurrahman Wahid?s thought in the context of diversity of Indonesia and the relation of religion and state.The method that is used in this research is phenomenology qualitative method. The steps done in this research covers: collecting data, data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. The sources of the research are interview and document. The techniques of collecting data in this research are literature review and interview. The validity of the data is done by data source triangulation. The technique of analyzing data is interactive technique, by reducing and displaying data while collecting data. The data in the form of field note is the data that has been dig and noted. The field notes then become systematic and logic data display based on the problem statements. The collecting data process that has been done, then the researcher arranges the discussion and draws the conclusion. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that: (1) Abdurrahman Wahid is one of prominent figure of Indonesia has to be descendant of aristocrat of Hasyim Asy?ari who was founder of Tebuireng Muslim Boarding School and founder of Nahdlatul Ulama, so that Abdurrahman Wahid gets the important position in the society; (2) Abdurrahman Wahid has education and social intercourse experience that makes he has liberal, moderate, and progressive thought; (3) there is mutual symbiotic correlation between religion and state, both working together in the community, nation and religion protects religious life even guiding life in the country. Symbiotic relation of religion and state in Indonesia is stated in Pancasila, Indonesian Constitutional Law 1945, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika slogan. Pancasila and the Constitution of 1945 is the final form of the best. Pancasila and the Constitution of 1945 into a platform capable of shelters a diversity of the Indonesian community. Abdurrahman Wahid?s thought about relation between religion and state based on fiqh perspective by adapting the condition of Indonesian social-cultural. The material about Abdurrahman Wahid can be inserted in History subject grade 12st Social in the material of the government system that have ever existed in Indonesia, starting from Old Order, New Order Government, until Reformation. The teacher should not only teach about the characteristics of government, how the running of the government is, the plus and minus of the government system, but also tell about the model of the figures that had ever been the leader in that government system. For example is Abdurrahman Wahid. We can take his positive behavior that shown up until now as a learning and good model. Those behaviors are democratic, anti-discrimination, and respect about pluralism.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know: (1) historical description of Village Batik Kauman Surakarta, (2) potential of Village Batik Kauman as a source of learning social studies/history in the curriculum of 2013, (3) relevance of Village Batik Kauman with KI and KD History social studies.This study used a qualitative descriptive method that examines the events at the present time by generating descriptive data in the form of words written or spoken of certain persons or behaviors that can be observed by using certain measures. In this study used a single-rooted strategy case studies that target to be studied has been limited and determined, and focused on a single location has its own characteristics. Source of data used is the source of objects, places, events, informants, and documents. Data collected by observation, interviews, and document analysis. The sampling technique used was purposive and snowball sampling. This study, to search for the validity of the data used two techniques namely data triangulation triangulation and triangulation methods. The data analysis technique used is interactive analysis, the analysis process that moves between the three components which include data reduction, data presentation, and verification/conclusion.Based on the results of this study concluded: (1) The history of Village Batik Kauman have close links with Keraton Kasunanan Hadiningrat Surakarta. Kauman stand together with the establishment of the Great Mosque Keraton as a religious center during the PB III. Kauman is the abdi dalem religious field and students. The wife of the abdi dalem were given the royal batik training continues cultivated until now. (2) Village Batik Kauman has potential as a source of social studies learning. Culture and ancient buildings in Kauman can be used as a source of learning, among others, the Great Mosque, Mosque Sesemen, ancient houses, batik skills, and multicultural society. (3) The relevance of Village Batik Kauman as a source of social lesson contained in the Basic Competence understand changes in Indonesian society during the pre post period, the Hindu-Buddhist, and Islamic period in the geographical aspects, economics, culture, education and politics .

Abstract

The aim of this research are to find out: (1) the background of Chinese and Javanese cultural assimilation in Surakarta 1966-1998, (2) The process of Chinese and Javanese cultural assimilation in Surakarta 1966-1998, (3) The impact of Chinese and Javanese cultural assimilation after 1966-1998, (4) The relevance of the research result of Chinese-Surakarta ethnic assimilation in 1966-1998 for multicultural education.The method used in this research are qualitative research methods. The steps taken in this method including data collection, data reduction, data analysis, presentation of data, and conclusion.The result of this research are : (1) The background of Chinese and Javanese cultural assimilation are caused by internal factor and external factor. Internal factor include the condition of Chinese community in the middle of the Javanese majority and economic problem. The external factor are appeared because of the New Order government policy. (2) The process of Chinese and Javanese cultural assimilation are divided into two periods, Old Order period led by Soekarno and New Order period led by Soeharto. (3) The impact of Chinese and Javanese cultural assimilation are contained in performing art and celebration day that contains cultural combination between Chinese and Javanese culture. (4) The result of this research are relevant with education field. Particularly as additional teaching materials for multicultural education in high school education.

Abstract

The purpose of this study were to describe: (1) the background of Ludruk Kirun art establishment in Madiun, (2) the development and existence of Ludruk Kirunart, (3) the views of teachers and the community to the existence of Ludruk in relation as preservation culture, (4) the teachers efforts to cultivate the students local culture appreciation.The form of this research was descriptive qualitative, which is a way to examine an event at the present time by generating descriptive data of written or spoken source of certain persons or behaviors that can be observed by using certain measures. This study used a single-rooted case studystrategy. Source of data used was objects, places, events, informants, and documents. Data collection techniques used was observation, interviews, and document analysis. The sampling technique used was purposive and snowball sampling. The validity of the data used two triangulation techniques namely data triangulation and methods triangulation. The data analysis technique used was interactive analysis, which is a process of analysis that move between three components including data reduction, data presentation, and verification / conclusion.Based on the results of the research concluded: (1) the establishment background of Ludruk Kirun driven by internal factors, namely: (a) an original art Ludruk East Java, (b)  Kirun desire that want to preserve the Ludruk arts, (c) the wishes of the people aboutt populist entertainment. External factors, namely: (a) the entry of foreign culture that led to the removal of Indonesian native culture (b) culture was a human need. (2) the development and existence Ludruk Kirun: (a) The development started in 1985 Kirun founded the studio "Kirun Cs" until 2009 renamed PadSKi (Kirun Art Hermitage ) and taught Ludruk, Ketoprak, dance and comedy training, (b) the existence of ludruk Kirun cooperate with relevant parties so ludruk not lost by globalization. (3) the teacher's views on Ludruk art: (a) the teacher sees Ludruk as one of Indonesian culture, (b) preserve the culture of Indonesia so Ludruk culture was not lost (4) teachers attempt to cultivate the students' appreciation by: (a) teacher give material about Indonesian culture, (b) provision of material culture caused students were able to appreciate the culture of Indonesia.
