Abstract

The ability of mathematical imagination is important in daily life for children with deaf disabilities. One effort to foster mathematical imagination is through a problem-based learning model assisted by manipulative props. This study aimed to: (1) find out whether the results of the mathematical imagination final test of deaf students with the application of the Problem-Based Learning assisted by manipulative props are better that the results of the initial test; (2) describe the mathematical imagination of the deaf students; (3) find out the growth of mathematical imagination of the deaf students. This research was mixed-method research that used a sequential exploratory design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population of this research was the students of a special school for disabilities (SMALBN) in Salatiga, Indonesia, while the sample was a random class from the 11th classes. The method used in this research were observation, documentation, tests, and interviews. Quantitative analysis showed that the final test of mathematical imagination result was better than the results of the initial test. Qualitative analysis yield a description of mathematical imagination that included aspects such as scientific sensitivity, scientific creativity, and good scientific productivity. The scientific sensitivity aspect of the imagination growth before learning was good, and the scientific creativity aspect was quite good. After learning, it was obtained that scientific sensitivity, scientific creativity, scientific productivity were good. The study concluded that problem-based learning assisted by manipulative props could foster the ability of mathematical imagination of deaf students in 11th grade.

Abstract

Introduction: Adolescent girls are involved and exposed to various comments regarding physical appearance, which can lead to experiences of body dissatisfaction, resulting from failing to meet the unrealistic standards of physical attractiveness set by society. This condition can be influenced by FoMO and social support from peers. This research aims to analyze the relationship between Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and social support from peers with body image in adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 13 Surabaya. Method: This research use descriptive correlation design with cross-sectional approach. The population was 650 people, with a sample size of 191 female teenagers at senior high school in Surabaya. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. The independent variables are FoMO and peer social support. The dependent variable is body image. Data was taken using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Spearman's rank test. Results: There is a relationship between FoMO and body image in female adolescents (p=0,031<0.05 and (r) = -0,156). For the peer social support variable, the value obtained was p=0,568>0,05, which means there is no relationship. Discussion: FoMO may be related to body image. Peer social support is not associated with body

Abstract

Introduction: LARC. Acute respiratory infection is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in Indonesia's children aged 6-35 months. Therefore, research on the determinants of acute respiratory infection in children aged 6-35 months needs to be explored to prevent the incidence of acute respiratory infection. This study aimed to analyze the determinants of the incidence of acute respiratory infection in children aged 6-35 months in Indonesia. Methods: This study used the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey data with a cross-sectional analytic design. The inclusion criteria were women between the ages of 15 and 49 who had children between the ages of 6 and 35 months and who lived with study participants having symptoms of coughing, rapid breathing, shortness of breath, and chest pain. The sample was 7378 respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire for women in the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey. The data were analyzed using bivariate analysis with a chi-square test and continued with multivariate analysis with binary logistic regression using the STATA application version 14.0 (p-value < 0.05). Results: The incidence of acute respiratory infection in children aged 6-35 months in Indonesia is caused by several factors with significant results including maternal age [AOR=1.33: 95% CI=1.12-1.58], maternal education [AOR=1.35: 95% CI=1.11-1.63 ], wealth quintile [AOR=1.27: 95% CI=1.06-1.53], and exclusive breastfeeding [AOR=1.28: 95% CI=1.04-1.57]. Conculusion: Maternal age, maternal education, wealth quintile, and exclusive breastfeeding contributed to acute respiratory infection among Indonesian children aged 6-35 months in which maternal age is the dominant factor. This study recommends health education on ARI prevention, such as exclusive breastfeeding, ARI prevention, and aid to children, which must be given especially to young, uneducated women.

Abstract

Abstract

The role of education in fostering high-quality human resources and equipping students with relevant skills is paramount. In the context of Islamic Education (PAI), the complexities of learning pose significant challenges, particularly in terms of instilling spiritual values and developing students' character. The advent of globalization and technological advancements has rendered multimedia an innovative tool in enhancing students' interest and understanding. Multimedia-based learning models facilitate active learning through a multifaceted combination of texts, audio, videos, and interactive animations. Empirical evidence suggests that this approach is efficacious in promoting learning motivation and comprehension of complex concepts in PAI subjects. Observations and interviews conducted at SMP Namira indicate that the integration of multimedia in PAI learning has yielded positive outcomes, including enhanced engagement, increased student participation, and improved understanding of the material. This study seeks to investigate the effectiveness of multimedia implementation in PAI learning and provide recommendations for future development.
