Abstract

The instruments of Hospital patient safety culture are connected to organizational culture aspects. This study aimed to review and synthesize knowledge and explore various instruments to measure hospital patient safety culture. Articles from 2018 to 2022 were selected from Web of Science, Sage Journals, SpringerLink, and Scopus. The terms used were patient safety culture, safety culture, clinical supervision, web-based, electronic, and technology. The selection procedure was managed by PRISMA 2020, and the inclusion and exclusion criteria were determined using PICO. 2.120 articles were found after duplicates were eliminated and the titles, abstracts, and keywords began to be checked.  After excluding an irrelevant study, only ten publications remained on assessing patient safety culture in hospitals. The prevailing definitions highlight patient safety culture as managing values, beliefs, attitudes, and competencies within a healthcare organization, influencing member behavior and the approach to errors, reporting, and learning. It aims to reduce and prevent unintended patient harm through various mechanisms and tools tailored to fit each institution's values. Paper-based or electronic-based instruments have advantages because they were created and utilized in numerous investigations. The survey response rate is also influenced by how healthcare personnel view the culture surrounding patient safety.  This research is crucial for hospitals and the broader healthcare community as it equips them with the knowledge and tools needed to cultivate a culture of patient safety, reduce errors, and ultimately protect the well-being of patients. It addresses the evolving healthcare landscape, emphasizing customization, technology, and staff involvement in pursuing safer healthcare environments.   Keywords: Hospital, instruments, patient safety culture

Abstract

Non-adherence of hypertensive patients in the treatment of their disease has an impact on uncontrolled blood pressure which can worsen the patient's health status and even death. One important factor that must be considered in efforts to improve hypertension compliance is patient knowledge about the disease and the necessary management. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge in supporting practice and compliance with hypertension sufferers in taking antihypertensive drugs. The research design used was cross-sectional descriptive analysis. The sample size for this study was 220 respondents who were recruited using purposive sampling techniques. Analysis of research data was carried out using the chi-square statistical test. A total of 51.8% of hypertensive patients had sufficient knowledge and 65.9% of hypertensive patients admitted that they were not compliant in taking the recommended medication. The value of the test results < α 0.05 (p= 0.000), which means that knowledge is significantly related to adherence to taking medication. Knowledge is the most important component that sufferers must have so that they can be actively involved in compliance practices. It is hoped that these findings can be used as material for consideration in formulating treatment interventions for people with hypertension about efforts to increase patient compliance in terms of taking anti-hypertensive medication.

Abstract

Introduction: LARC. Acute respiratory infection is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in Indonesia's children aged 6-35 months. Therefore, research on the determinants of acute respiratory infection in children aged 6-35 months needs to be explored to prevent the incidence of acute respiratory infection. This study aimed to analyze the determinants of the incidence of acute respiratory infection in children aged 6-35 months in Indonesia. Methods: This study used the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey data with a cross-sectional analytic design. The inclusion criteria were women between the ages of 15 and 49 who had children between the ages of 6 and 35 months and who lived with study participants having symptoms of coughing, rapid breathing, shortness of breath, and chest pain. The sample was 7378 respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire for women in the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey. The data were analyzed using bivariate analysis with a chi-square test and continued with multivariate analysis with binary logistic regression using the STATA application version 14.0 (p-value < 0.05). Results: The incidence of acute respiratory infection in children aged 6-35 months in Indonesia is caused by several factors with significant results including maternal age [AOR=1.33: 95% CI=1.12-1.58], maternal education [AOR=1.35: 95% CI=1.11-1.63 ], wealth quintile [AOR=1.27: 95% CI=1.06-1.53], and exclusive breastfeeding [AOR=1.28: 95% CI=1.04-1.57]. Conculusion: Maternal age, maternal education, wealth quintile, and exclusive breastfeeding contributed to acute respiratory infection among Indonesian children aged 6-35 months in which maternal age is the dominant factor. This study recommends health education on ARI prevention, such as exclusive breastfeeding, ARI prevention, and aid to children, which must be given especially to young, uneducated women.

Abstract

Introduction: Optimizing healthy lifestyles in children requires parental support for healthy movement behaviors. This study analyzed factors influencing parental support for school-age children's movement activities. Methods: This study employed an analytic descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach, involving a sample of 355 mothers with school-age children. The independent variables included family, child, and environmental factors, whereas the dependent variable was parental support for healthy movement behaviors, as assessed through a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using binary logistic regression with backward elimination. Results: The factors that significantly influenced parental support for their children's engagement in light physical activities included the children's own level of participation in such activities (OR=2.52, 95% CI=0.76-6.67). Factors affecting support for moderate to vigorous activities were maternal exercise habits (OR=3.37; 95% CI=1.18-9.65), children's sports habits (OR=5.18; 95% CI=1.64-16.26), and the presence of personal gadgets (OR=0.45, 95% CI=0.23-0.86). Parental support for preventing sedentary behaviors was influenced by parental knowledge (OR=2.33; 95% CI=1.34-4.05), mother's sleep duration (OR=2.46; 95% CI=1.27-4.75), and gadgets (OR=0.55; 95% CI=0.31-0.95). Factors affecting support for adequate sleep included children's light activities (OR=3.42; 95% CI=1.27-9.23) and their ownership of personal gadgets (OR=0.44; 95% CI=0.24-0.79) Conclusions: Parental support is influenced by the knowledge and physical activity habits of both mother and child, as well as gadget use and maternal sleep patterns. Pediatric nurses can enhance this support through health education focused on promoting healthy movement behaviors within families.

Abstract

Introduction: In Indonesia, retinoblastoma is a type of cancer with a high incidence and is the most common cause of death after leukaemia. Early detection of retinoblastoma in children is a health practise that involves identifying or screening for retinoblastoma symptoms in order to avoid consequences. However, a delay in early detection contributes to the high prevalence of disease metastases and negative consequences. This literature review aims to look at the factors affecting parental behaviour in early detection of children with retinoblastoma. Methods: This literature review searched three databases, including Web of Science, PubMed, and Google Scholar, for publications published between 2016 and 2020. The PICOS framework was utilised to set inclusion criteria while reviewing papers. The 14 papers fulfilled the inclusion criteria and. The Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal were utilised to assess study quality. Results: The review's findings revealed that parental behaviour in early detection of children with retinoblastoma is influenced by internal and external factors. The internal factors include parents' or caregiver' socioeconomic status, level of education, individual beliefs, and the age at which a child receives his or her initial diagnosis. Then, the examples of external factors include distance, the support of a healthcare provider, and the source of health information.Discussion: Internal and environmental factors influence parental behaviour in the early detection and treatment of retinoblastoma. Early detection of retinoblastoma can be sped up by providing information about early symptoms, time of diagnosis, risk factors, complications, and therapy.
