Abstract

Amid the issue of Indonesian religious extremism, the role of women in strengthening literacy and religious moderation in the family is a serious concern. Preventing cases of radicalism can start from the closest point, namely the family. This is important to study because the role of women in the family is not only as mothers, but women can carry out their multi-role as individuals, wives, mothers, and community mobilizers in the implementation of religious moderation. Through parenting applied by mothers to children, they can integrate the values of justice and togetherness so children learn to respond to differences wisely. The role of mothers and women amid the Covid-19 pandemic is completing domestic work and indirectly acting as teachers for children. In this situation, mothers must be wise and need to supervise their children using technology, which is the main door for children to receive information. This study examines the role of women in the family as movers of religious moderation in Indonesia. The research method used is library research, which will focus on the literature, while the analysis used is descriptive-analytical. The result of this research is that women as mothers can instill values of religious moderation through child-rearing, women as wives can work together with their husbands in fostering a household ark that integrates the value of religious moderation in educating children as a mother, and the nuclear family. While women as a society have the potential to maintain and maintain inter-religious harmony, this potential is underutilized.

Abstract

This study investigates the comprehension of gender-related matters among Muslim students in Malang State Universities, namely Brawijaya University, Malang State University, and the Islamic State University of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim. The study employs qualitative research methods, such as interviews and focus group discussions, to examine a range of viewpoints, beliefs, and attitudes regarding gender roles, equality, and related subjects. The findings demonstrate a range of understandings that are shaped by religious doctrines, cultural standards, and educational contexts. At Brawijaya University, students support progressive viewpoints that promote gender equality and question traditional male-dominated beliefs, resulting in their active participation in gender activism. Malang State University showcases a combination of conventional and innovative interpretations, with differing levels of endorsement for gender equality. Meanwhile, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim's Islamic State University adheres to conservative interpretations that prioritise traditional gender roles, leading to minimal involvement in gender activism. Religious and cultural factors overlap to shape attitudes regarding gender, as local norms and traditions have an impact on ideas of gender roles. Educational settings are of great importance, as Brawijaya University offers a favorable atmosphere for thoughtful examination of gender-related matters, whereas the Islamic State University places emphasis on Islamic morals and principles.

Abstract

This research examines the childfree decision made by Gita Savitri and her partner through the lens of radical feminism and Islamic jurisprudence, specifically the Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah (higher objectives of Islamic law) as outlined by Imam al-Syatibi. The phenomenon of childfree is explored in relation to the feminist concepts of libertarian radical feminism and cultural radical feminism, alongside Islamic perspectives on family and reproduction. purpose of this study is to ascertain how these viewpoints support or contradict the maqasid al-shari'ah, especially the fundamental Islamic legal precepts of life preservation (hifzh nafs) and offspring preservation (hifzh nasl). To collect pertinent data, a variety of books, articles, and journals are read as part of the qualitative research methodology, which is based on a library research strategy. Depending on the feminist and Islamic perspectives used, the finding may indicate that different people have varied opinions about childfree choices.1) Cultural radical feminists could interpret childfree options as a rejection of traditional femininity and authority. 2) Whereas libertarian feminists see them as a way for women to achieve their own emancipation. 3)Although having children is highly regarded in the Islamic framework, women's liberty may be respected without completely abandoning Islamic family and ancestry-related beliefs if society norms and individual choice are balanced.
