Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the use of Javanese and Indonesian Bilingualism in the university environment. The research design employed a qualitative approach to gain in-depth insights into the phenomenon of Bilingualism. The participants included four fifth-semester students majoring in English Education, chosen for their bilingual experiences in using Javanese and Indonesian. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and the analysis of social interactions in academic and informal contexts. The data analysis involved thematic analysis. The results show that Javanese strengthen social relations in informal contexts, while Indonesians dominate formal situations such as lectures. The main challenge is the adaptation of non-Javanese students to Javanese and the risk of marginalization of local languages. Bilingualism has great potential in strengthening cultural identity and flexibility of communication. Universities are expected to support the sustainability of local languages through inclusive programs such as the introduction of Javanese culture and language. This strategy is important for maintaining cultural diversity and improving students' language skills in academic and social settings. Keywords: Bilingualism, Javanese language, Indonesian language.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of liquidation and solvency on firm value with profitability as an intervening variable in three large telecommunications companies in Indonesia, namely PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk, PT Indosat Tbk, and PT XL Axiata Tbk. This study uses quantitative methods and uses secondary data from the financial statements of 3 companies in 2015-2023.  The results showed that the liquidity variable has a negative and significant effect on firm value because the significance value of the liquidity variable is smaller than 0.05. Meanwhile, the solvency variable does not have a significant effect on firm value, because the significance value of the solvency variable is greater than the value of 0.05

Abstract

Legal pluralism in Indonesia recognizes customary law as part of the national legal system, although its acknowledgment remains limited. The Baduy community applies restorative justice through the Silih Hampura principle, emphasizing the restoration of social relationships. This approach differs from the retributive nature of the national criminal justice system. Challenges such as differences in legal paradigms, lack of understanding among law enforcement officers, and the risk of criminalization hinder the recognition of customary mechanisms. This study aims to examine the recognition of restorative justice as a mechanism for resolving customary criminal cases within the Baduy community in the framework of national legal pluralism. Using normative legal research methods and a descriptive qualitative approach, this study highlights the application of Silih Hampura, which focuses on restoring social relations between offenders, victims, and the community. The findings indicate that the Baduy’s customary criminal settlements align with restorative justice principles, although challenges persist. Integrating the Baduy's restorative justice into the national legal system strengthens the protection of indigenous rights, as reflected in Law No. 39 of 1999 on Human Rights and Law No. 6 of 2014 on Villages. Stronger recognition is needed to preserve cultural diversity and promote social justice in Indonesia.
