Abstract

Background of the study: Institutional repositories are considered as one of the appropriate tools used by universities to store, preserve, and disseminate the scientific work of students and lecturers. Open access to institutional repositories allows students to access scientific works openly and they can get more complete parts of the work. However, there is another side of the institutional repository that has not received much attention, namely motivation and awareness about institutional repositories. Supported by data on student access to very high institutional repositories, this research was conducted at two universities in Yogyakarta, UII, and UNY.Purpose: This study aims to find out what motivations UII and UNY students to use institutional repositories and what is the awareness of UII and UNY students about institutional repositories.Method: The method used is qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of interviews with six UII and UNY students obtained based on snowball sampling techniques.Findings: The main motivation of UII students to use institutional repositories is to obtain references while the motivation of UNY students is because the institutional repositories are easy to use tools. In terms of awareness, UII and UNY students have a different awareness about institutional repositories which lie in knowledge, semester, understanding, medium, and willingness to store academic work in institutional repositories. Conclusion: Motivation and awareness are the two main keys that students must possess to succeed in the sustainability of the institution's repository.

Abstract

Background of the study: The presence of electronic Information Resources (SDI) in university libraries is especially attractive for users. The convenience and not having to come physically to the location make users prefer to use electronic SDI compared to printed SDI. Purpose: The main purpose of this research is to find out the trend of using SDI in the USU Library based on the field of science. Another objective is to find out the actual satisfaction of users with the electronic and printed SDI available at the USU Library. Method: This research is descriptive. The method used is a survey and data collection techniques are carried out by distributing questionnaires to respondents. Findings: The results showed that USU undergraduate students (S1) had different tendencies in using information resources. Students from non-exact study programs prefer to use the printed format, while students from the exact sciences study program more often use electronic SDI. Then in terms of the satisfaction that is desired and obtained, non-exact students have an average percentage value that is higher than exact. Conclusion: The results of this study can be used as evaluation material for the USU Library to continue to provide SDI in both printed and electronic formats following the information needs of its users.

Abstract

UGM library representation on the library website can be interpreted in a variety of ways by users depending on the user's information needs, experience and user background. This is an input for the library website to optimize the service and completeness of the information sources contained on the library website so that it can be interpreted easily and maximally by users. This study uses a qualitative approach with the reception analysis method. The informants selected in this study were 3 students from the third and fourth semesters. The results of this study indicate that: the library website contradicts the demands of the current library development that libraries have emphasized the function of social space rather than just as a source of information. The library website should also not be represented as a place for accessing limited information such as the ETD feature service which only contains abstracts / thesis titles, theses / dissertations only. Meanwhile, for online information retrieval, the library website can be used easily and can meet user information needs such as an online journal database to assist student assignments and theses. The results of this study, it can be concluded that the UGM library website makes it easy to access information sources and library services, it's just that sometimes the information presented cannot be easily understood and accessed in full text by users such as a collection of theses, theses, and dissertations..

Abstract

Background of the study: Stress is an inseparable part of a person's professional life, including the librarian profession. One of the librarians who experiences work stress is the Librarian of the Regional Archives and Library Service (DAPD) of Buleleng Regency. Remember, DAPD is the only district-level public library operating in Buleleng. The number of activities carried out, the various characters of the users served, and the library's targets make DAPD Buleleng librarians very vulnerable to work stress. Purpose: The main aim of this research is to find out what the sources of work stress are and what strategies the DAPD Buleleng librarians use to overcome the work stress they experience. Method: This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis methods. The technique for determining informants uses purposive sampling techniques and data collection techniques using interviews, documentation, and literature study. Findings: From the research results, it is known that the source of work stress for DAPD Buleleng librarians is caused by two main situations, namely threatening situations such as excessive workload and unsuitable qualifications, inability to adapt to technology, attitudes, and character of librarians, and job targets that do not meet expectations; and challenging situations such as learning new things and maximizing efforts to achieve desired targets. The strategies used by DAPD librarians to deal with work stress are, sharing work, looking for a place that can restore their good mood, doing fun activities while at home, telling stories to colleagues, and praying to God. Conclusion: It turns out that the work stress experienced by librarians also has an impact on work life and personal life. The results of this research can be a reference source for libraries that librarians need to have an understanding of the ability to manage work stress.
