Abstract

The problem faced by pig farmers in Kuta Village, Kanatang District, East Sumba Regency in raising pigs was productivity and long rearing time. The cause of this problem was the high cost of feed due to relying on commercial feed which is relatively expensive and continues to increase. Community service activities are carried out for 1 month, namely from 01 to 30 November 2022. The purpose of this community service was to improve the management of pig feed in Kuta Village, Kanatang District. The community service method used socialization and counseling, problem identification, training implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and mentoring. The solution offered to pig farmers was to improve the management of raising pigs, namely a) how to process agricultural waste (banana stems and rice bran) into alternative feed ingredients, b) how to make rations and mix them into fermented feed, c) how to manage the environment of the cage and how to feeding. The evaluation carried out is the success rate of making feed, how to feed it, and managing the environmental health of the cage. The result of the Community Service Program that has been carried out was an increase in skills in raising livestock and providing quality feed that was economical.

Abstract

Community service aims to empowerment the millennial youth of the Parengu Wunga Community through the production of “METETES” to increase the production of free-range chicken businesses. This community aid activity was carried out in Wunga Village, Haharu District, East Sumba Regency. Community service used instruction, press conference, dialogue, simulation, and practice. The stages of community service are identification of households that use solar cells and free-range chicken businesses, Metetes prototype design, Metetes feasibility testing, assistance with service activities, and evaluation and monitoring. The outputs of this service are Metetes products, publications in online mass media, and IPR for Metetes products. Based on the results of activity feedback conducted on respondents, 70% of service participants were very satisfied regarding the suitability of the material, suitability of needs, quality of material, material delivery, systematics and flow of material, level of participation, closeness to participants, and quality of Metetes products. In addition, service participants have increased skills in the free-range chicken business and the use of Metetes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of giving a mixture of fermented tofu pulp and rice bran in rations on the performance of hybrid ducks. This research was carried out in Lambanapu Village, Kambera District, East Sumba Regency which took place from November to December 2023, where there was a 2-week adaptation period and 8 weeks of data collection period. This study used an experimental method with a Complete Random Design (RAL) with 4 treatments and 4 replicates, namely P0:BR2 (basal feed), P1: BR2 80% + tofu pulp fermentation 10% + rice bran fermentation 10%, P2: BR2 60% + tofu pulp fermentation 20% + rice bran fermentation 20%, and P3: BR2 40% + tofu pulp fermentation 30% + rice bran fermentation 30%. The results of this study showed that the administration of tofu pulp and fermented rice bran had a real effect (P<0.05) on ration consumption and ration conversion, but had no effect on body weight gain. In conclusion, the application of 40% BR2 and a mixture of fermented tofu pulp 30% and rice bran 30% in the ration can increase ration consumption, but produce a high conversion value and the same body weight gain in Hybrid ducks.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian pakan multinutrien blok (MNB) terhadap konsumsi dan kecernaan protein kasar dan serat kasar Kambing Kacang. Penelitian menggunakan 16 ekor Kambing Kacang dengan kisaran umur 8-9 bulan dengan bobot badan 15 kg ± 2,18.  Penelitian menggunakan percobaan eksperimental rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan 4 ulangan, terdiri dari P0: rumput alam (kontrol), P1: rumput alam + 15 gr/e/h multinutrien blok, P2: rumput alam + 20 gr/e/h multinutrien blok, dan P3: rumput alam + 25 gr/e/h multinutrien blok. Parameter yang diamati seperti konsumsi protein kasar, konsumsi serat kasar, kecernaan protein kasar, dan kecernaan serat kasar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pakan multinutrien tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap konsumsi dan kecernaan protein kasar dan serat kasar pada ternak Kambing Kacang. Kesimpulan, pemberian pakan multinutrien blok hingga level 25 gram/ekor/hari menghasilkan konsumsi protein kasar 115,24-125,06 gram, konsumsi serat kasar 135,46-142,58 gram, kecernaan protein kasar 80,73-83,53%, dan kecernaan serat kasar 30,74-46,71% pada kambing Kacang betina.

Abstract

This experimen aims to determine the effect of planting distance for Odot grass (Pennisetum Purpureum Cv. Mott) on production, nutritional value and nutrient digestibility. This experimen was conducted at the Wira Wacana Sumba Christian University Field Laboratory, Kuta Village, Kanatang District, East Sumba Regency. The experimental design used in this experimen was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications as follows: JK1: Odot Grass Planting Distance 40x40cm, JK2: Odot Grass Planting Distance 40x60cm, JK3: Odot Grass Planting Distance 40x80cm, JK4: Odot grass planting distance 40x100cm. The experimen variables are fresh weight production, nutritional value and dry matter digestibility and in vitro digestibility of organic matter. The results showed that planting distance had a significant effect (p<0.05) on fresh produce production. The nutritional value for all treatments had an average DW of 85.99%, Ash 23.97%, BO 76.02%, PK 10.05%, LK 1.56%, SK 19.57% and an average dry matter digestibility of 66.32 % and organic matter 70.30%. In conclusion, Odot grass planting distance of 40 x 40 cm can increase fresh weight production by 2402.50 grams, while the nutritional value of BK is 84.59%, PK 10.01%, SK 21.16%, LK 0.41%, Ash 22.62 %, and dry matter digestibility 63.64%, organic matter digestibility 66.79%.

Abstract

Komunitas Parengu Wunga (KO MANUNGGA) merupakan kelompok masyarakat pemuda yang mempunyai salah satu aktivitas yakni beternak kuda Sandalwood di pedesaan. Komunitas peternak yang tergabung dalam komunitas ini berlokasi di Desa Wunga, Kecamatan Haharu yang terletak di Pulau Sumba bagian Utara, Kabupaten Sumba Timur, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur. KO MANUNGGA sudah memiliki badan hukum dengan akta notaris pendirian nomor: 05 Tanggal 02-12-2022 akta notaris Pau Djara   Liwe, SH dan saat ini memiliki 50 orang anggota aktif dan 20 orang anggota yang sedang melakukan beternak kuda sandalwood. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian yang telah dilakukan adalah edukasi dan penyuluhan malnutrisi ternak kuda Sandalwood, pelatihan pakan MINEBUS, sosialisasi manajemen pemeliharaan ternak kuda, sosialisasi desain logo kemasan produk, monitoring dan evaluasi. Hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian yakni sosialisasi dan edukasi malnutrisi ternak kuda sandalwood, edukasi dan penyuluhan teknologi Pakan MINEBUS, identifikasi peternak yang memiliki ternak kuda malnutrisi, pelatihan teknologi pakan MINEBUS, sosialisasi pemeliharaan ternak kuda Sandalwood, dan sosialisasi cara pembuatan logo dan desain kemasan, aplikasi teknologi pakan MINEBUS, monitoring dan evaluasi hasil produk MINEBUS. Kegiatan pengabdian ini didukung dengan keterlibatan mahasiswa MB-KM, dengan target capaian indikator kinerja utama (IKU) yakni produksi produk pakan MINEBUS, publikasi di jurnal pengabdian, publikasi di media massa, publikasi kegiatan di YouTube Program Studi Peternakan Unkriswina Sumba. Pengabdian ini difokuskan pada pemanfaatan mineral blok plus untuk meningkatkan produksi ternak kuda sandalwood yang ada di kelompok peternak KO MANUNGGA, Desa Wunga, Kecamatan Haharu, Kabupaten Sumba Timur.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the addition of “Kandangu Mbukku” on the manufacture of salted egg crackers at various levels on organoleptic quality and nutritional value. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 5 replications, namely P0: control, P1 Kandangu Mbuku 40%, P2 Kandangu Mbuku 45%, and P3 Kandangu Mbuku 50% P4 Kandangu Mbuku 55%. Data were calculated using Anova test and Duncan's double U2 test. The results showed that the addition of Kandangu Mbuku at different levels had a significant effect P<0.05 on color, taste, texture and level of liking. Nutritional values of moisture content: 5.11%, ash content 1.95%, protein content 1.71%, fat content 30.98%, carbohydrate content 61.24%. The addition of kandangu mbuku leaf extract at the 50% level in making salted egg crackers affects the taste and liking, color, moisture content and pH of the crackers. Meanwhile, the nutritional value of the crackers tends to be stable, because kandangu mbuku leaf extract is not a source of protein, carbohydrates or fat.
