Abstract

Islamic economics is a science that was born as an alternative to conventional economics, Schumpeter wrote down the economic history of Greek philosophers and immediately made a long leap for 500 years known as the great gap. Along with the times, the development of science is also growing. therefore Islamic economics as a concept of thought and practice is present gradually in a certain phase period. In medieval times the development of the history of Islamic economic thought was divided into three periods, namely the Islamic period of the early period until 1058 AD, the second period of Islamic Economics (1058-144 AD), third period Islamic Economics (1446-1931). Thus, history is one proof of the development of science. Islamic macroeconomic theory about economic growth, inflation, and money is not new, but has existed since the time of the Prophet. Economic growth according to classical Islam is aimed at advancing material and spiritual sides, and humans as the prosperous earth to get falah. Inflation in classical Islam is caused by human errors identified by corruption and poor administration. While the money in the Islamic economic literature used is dinar and dirham, the currency is imported, Roman dinars and dirhams from Persia.

Abstract

The primary goal of management in any organization is to achieve and maintain good performance to meet organizational objectives, which is essential for competitiveness in the global market. This study investigates how intrinsic motivation and transformational leadership influence the performance of the student council at the Institut Elkatarie, with Islamic work ethics as a moderating variable. Using quantitative methods and simple random sampling, data were collected from 90 out of 116 student council members for the 2023-2024 period and analyzed using regression analysis with IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0 The study shows that intrinsic motivation (X1) and transformational leadership (X2) both positively influence performance (Y), with significant T-values of 2.216 and 7.545, respectively. This suggests that enhancing intrinsic motivation and adopting transformational leadership can improve performance. However, the interactions between intrinsic motivation and Islamic work ethics (M), and transformational leadership and Islamic work ethics, were not significant, with significance levels of 0.294 and 0.571, respectively. This indicates that Islamic work ethics may not moderate the relationship between motivation, leadership, and performance in this context.

Abstract

Objective: The convenience, accessibility, and product diversity offered by e-commerce platforms may encourage impulsive and excessive consumption, which can contradict Islamic economic ethics such as moderation, justice, and responsibility. This study aims to analyze the influence of e-commerce use on consumption behavior among Generation Z and to highlight the importance of Islamic economic ethics in shaping rational and responsible consumption. Method: This research employs a quantitative survey involving 386 Generation Z respondents aged 14–28 years in Masbagik Utara Baru Village, East Lombok. The independent variables include the frequency of e-commerce use, product types, service satisfaction, and product reviews, while impulsive buying, trend-following, and responses to promotions measure consumptive behavior. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. Result: The findings reveal that all independent variables have a positive and significant effect on consumptive behavior, both in part and simultaneously. Product type and e-commerce usage frequency show the strongest influence, followed by service satisfaction and product reviews. These results indicate that increased exposure to digital platforms, product variety, and positive online experiences significantly contribute to higher levels of consumptive behavior among Generation Z. Implication: This study emphasizes integrating Islamic economic ethics into digital commerce to promote balanced, ethical, and socially responsible consumption among Generation Z. Originality: The originality of this study lies in its quantitative integration of Islamic economic ethics as both a moderating and a controlling variable within an e-commerce consumption model, demonstrating its significant role in reducing consumption behavior among Generation Z in a semi-urban Muslim context.
