Abstract

Prajuritan dance of Semarang Regency embodies profound cultural values. This study was conducted in response to the lack of research specifically examining the lingual elements of Prajuritan dance from an ethnolinguistic perspective. Although the dance contains linguistic expressions that reflect local cultural values, these have gradually been neglected due to its declining popularity within the community. This study aims to analyze the forms of lingual units in Prajuritan dance in Semarang Regency through an ethnolinguistic lens to uncover both their lexical and cultural meanings. A qualitative method was employed, utilizing an ethnographic approach. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews, audio recordings, and field notes from informants who are traditional artists in Semarang Regency. The data were then analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed 61 lingual units in Prajuritan dance, including 21 monomorphemic words, 7 polymorphemic words, and 33 phrases. These units are classified into six categories: paraga, busana, ubarampe, accompaniment, movement, and gelar. Each unit carries not only lexical meanings but also cultural values embedded in traditional roles and expressions. Ultimately, Prajuritan dance is not merely a performing art, but a cultural repository that safeguards ancestral wisdom and must be preserved for future generations.

In addition to the web series using Javanese and having many viewers, the web series also contains many panyandra, using a cognitive semantic approach, data collection using the listening and noting technique from the WeTv application. The analysis was carried out to identify the types of metaphors according to Kerbrat Orecchiomi, reference sources, and reference targets. This study aims to explain the types of metaphors, reference sources, and reference targets. The findings of this study reveal the types of metaphors according to Kerbrat Orecchiomi, namely explicit metaphors (in praesentia) and implicit metaphors (in absentia), and describes the source (source domain) and target reference (target domain). Explicit metaphor (in praesentia) is a metaphor that contains explicit meaning, while implicit metaphor (in absentia) is a metaphor that contains implied meaning and must be interpreted more deeply. After being classified into metaphor types, then analyzed phrases containing metaphors through reference sources (source domain) and reference targets (target domain). The results of the study show that the types of metaphors according to Kerbrat Orecchiomi in this study there are five types of explicit metaphors and three types of implicit metaphors, then mapping the table of reference sources and reference targets aims to interpret the meaning of panyandra from the speaker to the interlocutor, whether it is in the form of praise, sarcasm, criticism, and blame. The implication of this study for the study of cognitive semantics is to broaden the understanding of the meaning of language, because the study of cognitive semantics helps understand the formation of language meaning that is processed through the human mind.

Abstract

The emergence of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and international free trade has increased the flow of goods and services between countries. Indonesia has become a potential market for foreign products due to the domestic industry's inability to fully meet consumer demands. This situation is exacerbated by the rise of consumerism and hedonistic lifestyles among certain segments of society, which has weakened public appreciation for local products. This study aims to reexamine the relevance of the Javanese life philosophy urip samadya as a solution to the excessive consumption trend. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with an ethnophilosophical approach. Data were collected through literature studies on Javanese philosophy and current consumption behavior. The results indicate that urip samadya, which emphasizes living in moderation and balance, offers a moral foundation for resisting excessive consumption. Living moderately encourages individuals to think rationally and maturely in distinguishing needs from mere desires. Furthermore, the teaching fosters introspective awareness regarding personal consumption patterns. The application of urip samadya not only strengthens individual character but also has the potential to revive appreciation for domestic products. This study concludes that revitalizing local wisdom such as urip samadya is highly relevant as a cultural strategy to foster conscious, ethical, and sustainable consumption in the face of globalization and the massive influx of imported goods.
