Abstract

Teaching Indonesian should comprise a set of skills. One of the skills is a report writing skill through direct observation in the classroom. It can be seen, from the preliminary observation, that the students have difficulty in writing the report. This happens because the teachers do not give students the chance to work alone. This study is aimed to describe the increasing ability in writing skills by applying individual task of VIIIF Grade Student of Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 3 Tabanan in academic Year 2012/2013. This research was conducted at Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 3 Tabanan with study subjects was 50 people of VIII F grade students. At the beginning of the study it was showed that 50 % of students received less than 70 which are used as the standard minimum of completeness per individual. The result in pre cycle was 65.80 then in the first cycle increased with an average value of 72.20, and in the second cycle increased to 85. Thus, through the method of writing individual task, ability of the student in writing field trip report was increased.

Abstract

This study aims at obtaining the objective description about the improvement of speech ability using demonstration method of six grade students of SD Negeri 1 Kukuh Kerambitan in academic year 2009/2010. This study is classroom action research which consists of two cycles with 14 students. Each cycle consists of 4 stages : they are (1) planning, (2) action, (3) observation and evaluation, (4) reflection. Based on the data analysis, there was a significant improvement of speech ability of six grade students of SD Negeri 1 Kukuh Kerambitan. It is proved by the result of pretest with the average 55. 71 . After that, it was followed by the test on the cycle I with average 64.29, then increased to 76.43 on cycle II. As a result, the improvement from cycle I to cycle II is 12.14. Therefore, it can be suggested to the Indonesian language teachers to apply demonstration method in the learning process.

Abstract

Langkanya kepustakaan yang berisi informasi tentang pengajaran membaca khususnya di Sekolah Dasar, terutama yang bersifat praktis, sudah semakin dirasakan dewasa ini. Berbagai usaha untuk meningkatkan minat dan kemampuan membaca siswa sekolah dasar sudah lama digalakkan oleh masyarakat maupun pemerintah. Namun sikap dan minat juga bisa dipengaruhi oleh konsep diri siswa. Pengajaran membaca tidak saja diharapkan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca, tetapi juga meningkatkan minat dan kegemaran membaca siswa. Meningkatnya minat dan kegemaran membaca akan berpengaruh pada sikap positif siswa pada membaca. Usaha-usaha yang dilakukan guru untuk meningkatkan kegemaran membaca siswa adalah menyediakan waktu khususuntuk membaca dengan senang hati tanpa terpaksa. Di samping itu, juga memberikan tugas tambahan (PR) untuk membaca sebuah buku kepada para siswa, juga mewajibkan para siswa untuk membaca di perpustakaan minimal satu kali dalam seminggu.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan upaya yang bisa ditempuh guru untuk meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam menulis. Hal ini perlu dilakukan agar siswa semakin terampil menulis. Budaya menulis merupakan kegiatan menulis yang sudah menjadi suatu kebiasaan. Majalah sekolah merupakan wadah yang sangat baik bagi tumbuhkembangnya keterampilan menulis siswa. Upaya mewujudkan majalah sekolah akan berhasil jika ada dukungan dari guru, apalagi keterampilan menulis merupakan tuntutan kurikulum 2013 untuk mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia.

Abstract

Character is a very basic element in human life. The increasing number of moralcrises in human life indicates the re?ection of moral values declining. Considering the importance of the character role, the government through Kemendikbud implements character education through the learning process. This research aimed at ?nding out the character education practice in English learning to the students of SMA Negeri 4 Denpasar. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative research method. The data were collected by using the techniques of observation, deep interview, and document study. The data analysiswere conducted with qualitative data analysis which consist of data reduction, data display, conclusion, and veri?cation.Based on the analysis, it was found that (1) There were ?ve components in emotional intelligence including self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, empathy, and developing relationship; (2) Spiritual Quotient (SQ) was the intelligent which were able to function Intelligent Quotient(IQ) and Emotional Quotient (EQ) effectively; and (3) approaches used by the teacher towards character education in English learning were providing the opportunity and ?exibility to the attitude of students to express the attitudes freely based on the stimulus received, encouraging learner readiness on the stimulus received, leading the students to a higher intellectual in solving problems, encouraging and directing learners to search the meaning of moral values,and directing students to implement moral values in life manner. The conclusion of this research is the balance among the practice of Spiritual Quotient (SQ) and Emotional Quotient (EQ) in the process of English learning to the students of SMA Negeri 4 Denpasar.
