Abstract

Program pelatihan pariwisata ini sangat penting untuk dikembangkan guna meningkatkan perekonomian di Indonesia. Oleh karena itu, berbagai upaya perlu dilakukan untuk mendukung pengembangan pariwisata. Kompetensi berbahasa Inggris merupakan faktor penting dalam meningkatkan industri pariwisata. Pengabdian ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji secara mendalam peran bahasa Inggris dalam perkembangan pariwisata dan perekonomian di Indonesia. Pelatihan terbuka dan kuesioner dilakukan kepada 32 generasi muda di sekitar tempat wisata terpilih dan pemilik industri pariwisata di Pariaman untuk mengumpulkan data. Berdasarkan hasil analisis ditemukan bahwa bahasa Inggris mempunyai peranan yang sangat penting dalam mengembangkan industri pariwisata. Generasi muda yang mampu berkomunikasi dengan baik dalam bahasa Inggris dapat mendukung perkembangan usaha pariwisata terutama dalam memperluas program penjualan dan memberikan pelayanan yang lebih efisien. Oleh karena itu, dengan adanya pengabdian ini, para pemangku kepentingan pariwisata terus meningkatkan kompetensi bahasa Inggris pegawainya dengan mengadakan program pendidikan bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Pelatihan bahasa inggris melalui parenting orang tua sangat dibutuhkan di zaman digital sekarang. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk mensosialisasikan metode-metode pengajaran bahasa inggris kepada orang tua ketika anak-anak mereka sudah berada di rumah. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dalam kegiatan bulanan POMG (Persatuan Orang Tua Murid dan Guru) TK-IT Qurrata A’yun. Kegiatan dimulai dengan memberikan pengantar umum tentang pentingnya keterampilan bahasa inggris untuk anak-anak, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan menjelaskan metode-metode pengajaran bahasa inggris yang menarik seperti membangun rutinitas, memanfaatkan situasi sehari-hari, menggunakan alat teknologi seperti komputer dan android dalam mempelajari lagu, kosakata, dan cerita. Pembagian kuisioner juga dilakukan pada saat pemantauan kepada 30 peserta untuk mengetahui kemajuan dan keberlanjutan dari peningkatan kemampuan pengajaran bahasa inggris oleh para orang tua di rumah. Hasil dari pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa orang tua menjadi lebih percaya diri dan lebih antusias untuk menggunakan bahasa inggris dan mengajarkannya kepada anak-anak mereka dan secara tidak langsung anak-anak pun terlihat mulai tertarik dengan kosakata, lagu, dan cerita berbahasa inggris.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using short TikTok videos on students' abilities in writing narrative texts and to know teachers’ perception on the use of TikTok as teaching media. This article used mixed research methods. Quantitative data were obtained using experimental research, while qualitative data used qualitative descriptive research. The population of this study was class VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Langsa for the 2021/2022 academic year, with a total of 48 students. They were divided into two groups: 24 students in the experimental group were taught through TikTok content, while 24 students in the control group were taught through conventional methods. This study used a written test as a tool. The t-test formula from SPSS 26 was used to assess the data. Then at a significance level of 0.025 and degrees of freedom (df) of (48), observations show that (3.12 > 2.01) was more significant than t-table (2.01). The findings show that the research hypothesis was correct. TikTok was found as an interactive learning media that can represent what the teacher cannot convey and the learning process will be more effective and efficient. It was also an excellent learning medium because there was a mix of various music, pictures and interesting features so that it was not boring for students. Learning media like this can support student learning in writing narrative texts. Thus, this shows that short TikTok content greatly influences students' writing achievement

Abstract

Internet etiquette is very necessary as teachers increasingly use the internet in teaching and communicate online. Netiquette is introduced in schools so that teachers would be more ethical in utilizing and dealing with the dynamics of interactions in the digital space wisely. The purposes of this study were to know the level of teachers’ understanding on netiquette in digital use and to describe factors that influence it. This study used phenomenological research method. The data were collected through observation sheets which distributed to 15 teachers from several schools on google form. The results indicated that the majority of teachers already understand that in cyberspace, humans interact and communicate with various cultural differences. Easy internet access allows everyone to connect and participate, without cultural or geographic boundaries. So, netiquette needs to be implemented by all internet users, both in the field of education and social media. Cyber-bullying is a case that needs to be recognized and anticipated as early as possible. For this reason, apart from teachers, it is also important to socialize netiquette to all students at elementary to high school levels.

Abstract

The purposes of this paper were to describe distance learners’ Moodle-based learning experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic and to analyze distance learners’ technological competence through Moodle-based learning experiences. This study used qualitative method to characterize and analyze the digital competence required to maximize the usage of the Moodle platform as a course media. The questionnaire and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) were used in collecting the data. The total of 509 participants responded to the survey and 17 participants were participated in FGD. The results reveal that the students experienced several obstacles in participating in online learning using the Moodle platform. especially for students who live in remote areas, there are many obstacles; starting from the difficulty of getting an internet connection, data limitations due to having to take many courses, and lack of motivation in completing assignments. Furthermore, the findings also show that students have a fairly high level of technological competence. The paper figures out the digital competences owned by the students in facing new tools and exploiting the technological potentials in a flexible way. This study is crucial due to the important of helping students to understand online learning goals which in turn might increase their primary knowledge, technological usage and behaviors. Furthermore, it is also important for institutions to prepare clear policies to develop their learning systems.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk melatih orang tua tentang teknik sederhana dan efektif untuk membantu anak-anak menghafal perkalian 1 sampai 10 dan memecahkan soal perkalian dengan cepat. Metode pengabdian dibagi tiga tahap, mulai tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan dan tahap penutup. Pengabdian juga memberikan kegiatan pretest dan posttest pada peserta, untuk mengetahui pemahaman orang tua terhadap materi perkalian. Selain itu, peserta diminta untuk mengisi angket. Hal ini untuk mengetahui seberapa aktif peran orang tua dalam membantu siswa di rumah terutama dalam pelajaran perkalian. Pada pelaksanaan kegiatan penyampaian materi dibagi beberapa tahap. Pada tahap pertama penyampaian materi strategi yang dapat digunakan orang tua untuk memfasilitasi pembelajaran perkalian di rumah. Tahap kedua identifikasi masalah yang dihadapi siswa dalam mempelajari matematika. Tahap ketiga difokuskan pada metode pengajaran yang efektif dan sederhana untuk menghafal tabel perkalian mulai dari perkalian 1 hingga 10. Tahap keempat penyajian soal perkalian sederhana dan menunjukkan metode yang efisien dan mudah untuk menyelesaikannya. Selanjutnya, mendorong keterlibatan aktif peserta melalui diskusi. Sesi praktik memungkinkan orang tua untuk menerapkan teknik-teknik dan metode-metode yang diperkenalkan, memperkuat kemampuan mereka dalam mendukung pembelajaran anak. Hasil pengabdian ini telah membuat orang tua termotivasi dan memberikan pemahaman yang lebih baik terhadap konsep perkalian.  Pelatihan ini telah menunjukkan bahwa partisipasi aktif orang tua tidak hanya meningkatkan pengalaman belajar tetapi juga mengatasi tantangan potensial yang mungkin dihadapi anak-anak dalam pendidikan matematika.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini difokuskan untuk mengasah kemampuan bahasa Inggris khususnya bagi generasi Z yang siap memasuki dunia kerja yang bersifat digital. Pesertanya berjumlah 20 pemuda dan pemudi dari Kota Padang. Diadakan pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur kemajuan merka sebelum dan sesudah mengikuti pelatihan. Dengan analisis yang telah dilakukan, didapatkan bahwa kemampuan bahasa Inggris profesional peserta meningkat dalam kemampuan menulis CV dan surat lamaran, menyiapkan interview, melakukan interview, berkomunikasi melalui email resmi, dan memiliki akun LinkedIn berbahasa Inggris. Pelatihan ini sangat penting karena menyebabkan keterampilan peserta di bidang bahasa semakin bagus disertai denga rasa percaya diri yang tinggi. Prosesnya tidak mudah, tetapi peserta sangat antusias dan mengkomitmenkan diri mereka dalam meningkatkan kualitas diri. Program ini berhasil membekali motivasi dan skill yang diperlukan untuk menghadapi tantangan tenaga kerja digital di zaman sekarang, baik di Indonesia maupun di luar negeri. Selain itu, feedback dari para peserta menandakan ketertarikan yang tinggi untuk meneruskan dan memperluas pelatihan semacam ini. Diharapkan pada program-program selanjutnya bisa mencakup sesi pertemuan langsung atau hibrid agar banyak memberi ruang praktik dan keterlibatan, khususnya bagi para muda pencari kerja.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has shifted educational systems all over the world. As a result, the employment of technology continues to be controversial, and the debate over whether English teachers actually use technology to boost their talents continues. What amount of digital literacy is imparted by their educational experience, and if they adequately equipped with digital capabilities to meet their daily needs is still arguable. Thus, the demand toward the improvement of digital media is linked to digital literacy, which subsetof digital competence. Along with same line, teachers need to evaluate their readiness to integrate technology in teaching processes. Today, Universitas Terbuka (UT) provides a critical chance for English teachers to help their students develop their English abilities in complicated scenarios like as the Covid-19 pandemic. Hence, the purpose of this study is to assess the digital skills of English teachers and to describe their preparation for and response to the Covid-19 pandemic. In achieving this study's goals, 8 online tutors and 17 students of Online English Department of UT participated in the study. To obtain the data, questionnaireandinterview were used to explore the importance of teacher’s readiness in teaching English,particularly on teachers’ technological competence. The SWOT Analysis was also be analyzed to capture the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats on teacher’s readiness in digital competencies. The results of this study inform decision-makers at UT and the other similar higher education institutions using similar platforms and who may have the same concerns.

Abstract

Since Indonesia declared the COVID19 pandemic emergency, all elementary schools have implemented an online learning system. However, in January 2021, the Padang City Government decided to introduce a private learning system with rules that comply with health protocols.Nevertheless, the problem of e-readiness was identified as the main challenge that influences teachers to become good facilitators for online learning. The purpose of this study is to find out how elementary school teachers in West Sumatra try to incorporate e-learning into their classrooms and what factors influence their motivation. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 30 respondents. Analytical interactive model was used to analyze the data and it was found that teachers in schools located in city centers with adequate internet access were ready to implement e-learning systems. There are also significant differences in motivation levels between public and private school teachers. In addition, several factors have been identified that teachers should consider supporting their desire to learn online including those related to well-instruction, high-quality content, good relationships, and good mental health.
