Abstract

The third producing oil palm plant or TBM III is an oil palm plant that is 36 months old and is a potential initial plant for producing palm oil. This research aims to identify the diversity of soil mesofauna in the PTPN III Plantation during the TBM III growth phase. The research was carried out at Perkebunan Nusantara 3 Aek Nabara Selatan in December 2023. The sample was determined using purposive random sampling based on slope differences, namely 0-5% and 5-15%. For one type of slope, 4 different observation locations were taken at random so that a total of 8 sample units were obtained. Each observation sample was made into a cube-shaped monolith with dimensions of 30 x 30 x 40 cm. The results of meso and macrofauna observation data were tested for differences in slope of 0-5% and 5-15% based on the t test at the 5% level. The research results show that a slope of 0-5% has a larger fauna distribution than a slope of 5-15%. This indicates that flatter land has greater macro and mesofauna activity because the area is covered by plant remains. On slopes of 0-5% to 5-15% the macrofauna is dominated by ants and earthworms.

Abstract

One of the oil palm pre-nursery seeding techniques that complies with standards is the use of growth regulators and fertilizers during the seeding process. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of giving Atonik ZPT and Mutiara NPK Fertilizer on the vegetative growth of oil palm seedlings at the pre-nursery stage and their interactions. The research was carried out at the experimental field of the Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Labuhanbatu University. The design used was a factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) with two factors, namely the factor of giving Atonik ZPT and giving NPK Mutiara fertilizer with 12 treatment combinations: Z0 (control), Z1 (2 g/polybag), Z2 (4 g/polybag). Mutiara NPK fertilizer was given at 4 levels: P0 (control), P1 (2 ml/liter of water, P2 (4 ml/liter of water), P3 (6 ml/liter of water). The parameters observed were the increase in plant height (cm), diameter stem (mm), number of leaves (strands), and leaf area (cm). The results showed that: (a) administration of NPK Mutiara had a significant effect on leaf area, but had no significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, and stem diameter; (b) giving Atonik ZPT had a significant effect on plant height and leaf area, but had no real effect on number of leaves and stem diameter; (c) there was no interaction between the two treatments for all parameters observed; (d) the best combination was the treatment given NPK Pearls 4 g/polybag with ZPT Atonik 6 cc/liter of water. Keywords : palm oil, pre-nursery, ZPT, NPK fertilizer INTISARISalah satu teknik pembibitan pre-nursery kelapa sawit yang sesuai standar adalah penggunaan zat pengatur tumbuh dan pupuk selama proses pembibitan. Abstract

Chili pepper (Capsicum frutescens) is one of the important horticultural commodities in Indonesia, widely cultivated due to its spicy flavor and high economic value. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of various planting media and fertilizers in promoting the environmentally friendly growth of chili pepper plants. The study employed a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) with treatments including: Control (without cow manure), 2 kg of cocopeat and 1 ounce of cow manure, 2 kg of cocopeat and 1.5 ounces of cow manure, 2 kg of cocopeat and 2 ounces of cow manure, 2 kg of soil and 1 ounce of cow manure, 2 kg of soil and 1.5 ounces of cow manure, and 2 kg of soil and 2 ounces of cow manure. Data analysis was conducted using ANOVA and BNT post-hoc tests. The results showed that the planting media did not significantly affect plant height or the number of leaves, though variations in values were observed across treatments. In cocopeat media, the treatment of 2 kg of cocopeat and 1.5 ounces of cow manure resulted in the highest plant height at week 4, measuring 30.03 cm, followed by 2 kg of cocopeat and 1 ounce of cow manure (29.23 cm), 2 kg of cocopeat and 2 ounces of cow manure (29.20 cm), and the control treatment (28.46 cm). The highest number of leaves was also found in the 2 kg of cocopeat and 1.5 ounces of cow manure treatment, with 16.66 leaves, although in the second week, the control treatment recorded only 6.33 leaves. In soil media, the 2 kg of soil and 2 ounces of cow manure treatment produced 17.66 leaves, with variations in the second week noted between the cow manure treatments and the control group.
