Abstract

Arjowilangun Village is a post-TKI village. People choose to become sheep farmers with less capital than being cattle farmers. Based on the previous discussion, waste management is required to ensure the sustainability of environment in Arjowilangun Village. Processing sheep and agricultural waste program is held by Doktor Mengabdi team. Farmers can learn how to make Bokashi from waste. The method used is composting aerobic or anaerobic starters for composting organic material. A decomposer as collection of several good microbes from fungi work to control pathogenic microbes assists the fermentation process. Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test during the training, it can be showed that understanding of the breeders' potential of the environment is increased.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is one of many paper manufacturing companies in East Java which produces Exercise Book. The company implements corrective engine maintenance system where new components replacement is done when the engine is damaged. This treatment system resulted in frequent engine sudden stopping. With so many breakdown frequencies resulting from the fact that the engine stops abruptly, the broken raw materials increases in number and causes losses for the company. To overcome that problem we need appropriate treatment strategies to minimize the frequency of breakdown. Another aim is to minimize downtime and maintenance costs incurred because of engine maintenance activity. There are 3 maintenance scenarios implemented to solve such problem, i.e. scenario based on the existing condition of the company, scenario of component replacement in accordance with Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) value, and scenario of component replacement when the reliability of the component has reached 70%. From those three scenarios we will manually carry out an interval maintenance planning and Monte Carlo simulation. The result of data processing shows that in order to minimize the number of Exercise Book engine breakdown we can apply the 3rd scenario namely the replacement of component when the reliability of component has reached 70%. To minimize the amount of downtime and maintenance costs appropriately we shall use scenario 2, namely the replacement of component based on the Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) value.

Abstract

In the manufacturing industries, the main problem of material handling process using conveyor belt. Belt that continuously work will have damage or failure, so it repair by cold splicing. The purpose of this study is to see the effect of cold splicing parameters on the shear strength of conveyor belt joints based on variations in the number of belts, bias cut and adhesive thickness. Variations in the number of ply belts used are 2 ply, 3 ply and 4 ply, variations of cut bias 0.3xB, 0.6xB and 0.9xB and variations in the thickness of the adhesive which are 1 mm, 2 mm and 3 mm. This research was conducted experimentally using the Taguchi method based on shear test data using the Universal Testing Machine. Based on ANOVA value, the number of belt ply was high contribution by 86.22% with F-value = 155.3 and bias cut was lowest contribution by 0.23%.
