Abstract

ABSTRACTIn general, design of Cata111ara11 passe11ger boats have been mostly made of FRP or aluminum materials. Tl1e sclectio11 of FRP or Aluminum material has an influence on the value of the lioats main di111msio11s, especially relating to the draft, speed, power, passenger capacity and displacement. HaPi11g m1alyzcd tile 111ain dimensions of both FRP and aluminum boats for the same passenger capaci~/ by using parametric ratio and regression analysis, It has been found that the majorihJ of boat main dimension values of FRP Catamaran is larger, among others, are 49 % for the lengtll (L), 0.34% for the breadth (B), 47% for the high (D), 62% for the speed (V), and 74% for tile engine power (HP). However, the other dimensions of FRP Catamaran namely the draft (T) and the displacement are 0.86% and 34%smaller respectively. For thesame value of length for both types of boats, the result of statistical analysis stated that most of tile major dimension of Aluminiun1 Catamaran boats appears to be larger, among others, are about 48% for tile breadth  B), 1 % for the high (D), 50% for the draft (f), 130% for th Displacement (weight of the ship), 20% for HP (engine power) and 48% for passenger capacity. Hmvever, speed (V) and engine power (HP) of FRP Catamaran boats are 33% and 20% higher respectively.Key Words:. Comparison, main dimensions, passenger Catamaran, FRP, Aluminum

Abstract

BPPT's Boeing Jet.foil ziessel of Nyi Ageng Sernng (BJ-NAS) /ms recently been lmjng dawn in a riverbank of Indonesian Nmry territon1 in Belmmn, Medizn and not yet been in operation anynwre due toboth engine failure and hull leakage. 11re ziessel condition itself /ms been getting worse since the repairprocess has been facing difficulties in getting engine's spare parts. To cape with this problem, it hasbeen proposed 3 (Three) transfer technique alternatives to bring this vessel back to her home base inPT. PAL Surabm1a. 11wse alternatives are firstly, the ziessel would be laid doz1m on the barge and thenpulled btj tugboat, secondly, the ziessel would be mrried btJ LCT vessel and thirdl.y, the z~ssel wouldbe tied up in the port side of tugboat along the wm1 to Surabm;a. Hm1ing analysed tlwse 3 (three)alternatives both technical and economicnl feasibilities from uiewpoint of infrastructures, facilities, human resource, time, safety, cost and admntngeous criteria, it appears that the third alternativeseems to be the best to be implemented. Howeuer, wmie condition slwuld be taken into Eeriouslyconsideration when dealing with the safety of ship. 771f expected mlm water for ship unden.11m1 toSurabm1a is in betz1~ April and June. Keywords : Boeing Jet.foil vessel, Transfer technique alternatives, Tedino Economic FeasibilihJ

Abstract

Design requirement is stmu:fard requirernent tluzt should be met and carried out before introducing akind of newly transportation mode. Sudi matter luzd e-uer been experienced recently bi; the PravinceGovernment of OKI as tnjing to introduce newly transportation rrwde so called waterways besidebus way as a part of macro transportation sd1eme (PTM). During initial. operation trials, the vesselsJuul faced many difficulties and obstacles because of her unsuitable design. In realih;, the existing rivervessels namely KM K.erapu III and KM K.ernpu IV m~re preuiously used for sen transportation. TI1e1;could not fulfill the conditim1 of existing rirer environment bemuse their design requirement Juul notbeen m1ailnble and azrried out yeL Draft of tllt'se uessels npproxinmtely 0.6 m Juul become obstacle tooperate in the existing river having depth of about 1 meter or even less. After conducting an analysison design requirement for required river transport, it is finally founded that the suitable river vesselwould have a twin-hull vessel as known as catamaran which has a displacement hull h;pe, made ofFRP, with main dimensions of 9.95m length, 3.20111 width, 1.20m depth, 25knots speed, 25 personscapacitt;, 145/rp, and slenderness ratio I.;b=9. Howerier, dredging effort should be recommended tomaintain river depth at least 1 m or e-uen more and 111ake sure that the proposed riessel may runsmoothly during her operation nnd free fro111 dependenci; from open-closed si;stem of water gate inmaintaining the water depth lend. Keywords: Watenuays, West Flood Canal, Catamaran vessel, Principal dimensions, PravinceGovernment of D KI
