Abstract

ABSTRACTMenstrual pain, also known as dysmenorrhea, is caused by an imbalance of progesterone hormones in the blood, resulting in recurring pain that disrupts daily activities. Acupressure, a therapy involving finger pressure and massage on specific points of the body, has emerged as a treatment modality. This study aims to investigate the Effect of Acupressure Therapy on Reducing Menstrual Pain (Dysmenorrhea) among Adolescents at UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Kec. Akabiluru in 2024. The research design employed is a Quasi-experimental approach with a One Group Pretest- Posttest design. Purposive sampling was used to select participants from the entire female student population at UPTD SMP 2 Kec. Akabiluru. Bivariate analysis involved the Shapiro- Wilk test, and the research hypothesis was tested using Non-Parametric Statistical tests. The results of the univariate analysis revealed that the average level of dysmenorrhea pain among respondents before receiving acupressure therapy was 8.35, while two days after therapy, it decreased to 2.65. Bivariate analysis demonstrated a significant difference in the average pain levels before and after acupressure therapy with a p-value of 0.000. In conclusion, the study suggests that acupressure therapy effectively reduces menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea). Therefore, it is recommended that respondents consider acupressure therapy as an alternative method for alleviating menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea). Keywords: Pain, Dysmenorrhea, Acupressure

Abstract

Background: Pregnancy is a period that starts from the process of conception (conception) until before the fetus is born and is a physiological state. Improper handling of pregnant women is caused by less or even no ANC treatment during pregnancy. Many efforts can be made by pregnant women to overcome various complaints during pregnancy, one of which is complementary therapy or traditional medicine passed down from the family and culture of the local community. This study aims to conduct an empirical survey of complementary therapies for pregnant women in the work area of Muara Tembesi Health Center. Methods: This type of research is Mixed methods with an Exploratory design which was carried out in November 2023 with the population of all pregnant women and the local community. This sampling uses purposive sampling techniques with quantitative samples of 50 respondents and qualitative 16 informants. The instruments used are interview protocols and questionnaires. Qualitative data analysis using the Miles & Huberman model and univariate quantitative data analysis. Results: The research results show that the common complaints of pregnant women are nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dizziness, heartburn, emotional disturbances, aches or pain in the legs, back and waist and leg edema. Meanwhile, the complements used by pregnant women are adjusted to the type of complaints experienced, including consumption of boiled ginger water (78%), lemongrass infusion (34%), betel infusion (8%), half-cooked free-range chicken eggs (60%), fruit and vegetables ( 56%), and massage therapy (52%). Conclusion: It is expected that pregnant women can apply complementary therapies in health services in the form of integrative services.

Abstract

Background: Improving the degree of health is mandatory as a human effort in business, in healthy life activities and illness are the determinants of achievement, when sick, treatment and care efforts have become a benchmark for activities, as well as health must be maintained in order to stay healthy and able to take active and passive prevention in order to achieve optimal health. In maintaining health, it can be done in a modern or traditional way, one of the traditional treatments is Cupping which has become a recommendation from the Prophet Muhammad, SAW. Methods: However, not many people are ready for this bekan action, so a study was conducted to determine the client's first experience of cupping therapy with a qualitative descriptive phenomenological approach with 13 participants, collecting data by interview and observation, and processing data analysis using Hubberman. Results: The results of the study were found to be traumatic invasive procedures, psychological responses, striving for health, which became the theme of the research results. Conclusion: It is recommended for health workers to provide education to the public that cupping can be used as an alternative therapy in improving health status with safe procedures and will not cause traumatic invasive procedures, so it is safe and comfortable to use.

Abstract

In the fabrication industry, the welding process plays a crucial role in both engineering and repair production processes. Continuous use of welding machines can lead to a decline in their effectiveness. Suboptimal machines may produce low-quality products. A common issue encountered is the poor quality of welds, even when each step has been aligned with the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS). One source of this problem is the welding equipment itself. The objective of this study is to calibrate arc welding equipment to ensure it remains within machine standards. Calibration is performed in accordance with BS EN 50504:2008 and BS 7570:2000. The calibration focuses on measuring constant voltage and wire feed speed (WFS). The measurement results for WFS variation indicate that it does not exceed a 10% error margin. This suggests that the WFS complies with the established standards. Consequently, the Lincoln LN-25X wire feeder speed is ready for use in fabrication and production processes.
