Abstract

Lupus not only brings an impact on the people suffering from it but also gives a burden for the family as the main treatment unit for the people with Lupus. Social support from family, friends or closest people is assumed to be able to grow the self-confidence of a family caregiver in coping with any drawbacks in caregiving as it can lessen the burden. This study specifically aimed to observe the impacts of the support of family, friends and closest people on the burden of caregiver through the mediator of self-efficacy to the family caregiver of people with Lupus. This article is a part of the thesis using the quantitative approach with family caregivers of people with Lupus as the research respondents (N=72). The research data collection was carried out online using Zarit Burden Interview, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and Caregiver Self-Efficacy Measures. Data were analyzed by means of mediation analysis technique through JASP. The results of the study showed that self-efficacy only acted as a mediator for the relation between family support and the burden of the caregiver. Family support is a very important factor to increase caregiver self-efficacy which in turn can reduce the care burden for family caregivers.

Abstract

Children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) often experience difficulties in maintaining attention on tasks, display impulsive behaviors, and show signs of hyperactivity. Therefore, interventions are needed to help children manage ADHD symptoms. This study specifically aimed to examine the effectiveness of online behavior modification therapy using the response cost technique in enhancing task initiation in a child with ADHD. The study employed a single-case design. The participant was a 10-year-old child (n=1) who exhibited ADHD symptoms, including difficulties sustaining attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. Assessments were conducted through observation, interviews, and psychological testing. ADHD symptoms were measured using the Indonesian Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Rating Scale (IARS). The intervention lasted for 5 weeks. Baseline psychological conditions were assessed to guide the intervention plan. Following the intervention, several improvements were observed, including a reduction in IARS scores (from 69 to 61), increased initiative in task completions, greater attentiveness during conversations, and a decrease in impulsive behaviors. However, as this study used a single-case design, the findings cannot be generalized, and further research is needed to better understand the effectiveness of this intervention for other children with ADHD. This study may serve as a reference for mental health professionals in managing ADHD cases in children.

Abstract

At the stage of development, individuals will pass the adolescence stage to the adult stage. At that stage, the individual will be in the early adult phase, where the individual will focus on preparing for his future and evaluating his adolescence so that in adulthood individuals have a quality life. In a quality life, there is an element of religiosity, wherein a Muslim's life gratitude is one aspect of religiosity. The objective of this study is to investigate the correlation between gratitude and quality of life in Muslim early adulthood. The subjects in this study were 101 Muslims early adulthood consisting of college students and working individuals. Data collection in this study uses a scale in the form of a questionnaire to reveal two variables, namely WHOQOL-BREF scale from WHO (World Health Organization) and then the scale of gratitude is a scale developed by Rusdi (2016). The results of data processing with Pearson Product Moment correlation on 101 subjects showed that quality of life and gratitude were positively correlated significantly (p <0.05) with p = 0.000 and the correlation coefficient of r = 0.450. The research had a limitation that the gratitude scale can only be applied to the subject of a Muslim because the measuring instrument used has a value that is trusted by Muslims and this research only applied to subjects in a number of regions in Indonesia. It is hoped that this research can be a study of psychology, especially in the study of Islamic psychology. Keywords: Gratitude, Quality of Life, Early Adulthood, Muslims
