Besides physical losses, the survivors also experienced various psychological health disorders that significantly affected their psychological condition as well as life.Purpose: This study was aimed at exploring and gaining deeper meaning from the lived experiences of the Lombok earthquake survivors. Methods: This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive phenomenological approach to elucidate the phenomena from experiences. The participants were ten (10) survivors of the Lombok earthquake, who were determined by purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using Colaizzi's method. Results: The results showed six emerging themes, including (1) problems solving skills when disaster strikes, (2) surviving from the limitations and difficulties, (3) feeling accustomed to earthquake, (4) family is a key source of strength to continue life, (5) getting closer to God by doing religious prayers and actions to have peace of mind, and (6) learning from the disasters to become a better human being. Conclusion: The lived experience of the Lombok earthquake survivors was a long journey where they survived and adapted the difficult situations, as later, they could turn the under-pressure conditions to chances for their personal development. The findings of this study provide insights for nurses to greatly contribute to solving post-disaster psychological issues by strengthening the survivors’ religious aspects, trauma healing, play therapy, and peer-support group.

Abstract

Background: Academic procrastination is a widespread issue affecting university students, often linked to behavioral factors such as uncontrolled internet use. Among final-year nursing students, extended time spent on non-academic online activities—exceeding four hours daily—may contribute to delays in completing academic responsibilities. Objective: This study aimed to explore the relationship between internet addiction and the tendency to procrastinate academically among undergraduate nursing students. Method: A correlational quantitative approach was utilized in this study. The target population included 90 final-year students, with 86 respondents selected using an accidental sampling method. Data were collected through two standardized questionnaires—one measuring internet addiction levels and the other assessing academic procrastination. Statistical analyses included both univariate and bivariate procedures, with Spearman's rank correlation used to examine the association between the two variables. Results: Of the 86 participants, 60 students (69.8%) demonstrated moderate internet addiction, while 56 students (65.1%) reported moderate levels of academic procrastination. Analysis showed a statistically significant positive correlation between internet addiction and procrastination behavior (p = 0.007; r = 0.288). These findings suggest that higher levels of internet dependency are associated with an increased likelihood of delaying academic tasks. Conclusion: There is a meaningful association between excessive internet use and academic procrastination. It is recommended that students develop better time management strategies by limiting recreational internet use and allocating focused periods for academic work to reduce procrastination tendencies and improve academic outcomes.

Abstract

Introduction: Maternal to child transmission of infectious diseases such as HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B remains a major global health concern. The “Triple Elimination” program integrates early detection and prevention strategies for these infections within maternal health services. However, limited maternal knowledge and awareness impede optimal screening participation, especially in developing regions. Educational interventions using audiovisual media such as videos have shown promise in improving maternal understanding and promoting health-seeking behavior. Objective: To determine the effect of video-based education on the knowledge of pregnant women regarding triple elimination screening at RSUD Mgr. Gabriel Manek, SVD., Atambua, Belu. Method: A quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted among 32 pregnant women attending antenatal care (ANC) during October–November 2025. Participants received an educational intervention using a health education video about triple elimination. Data on knowledge were collected using a validated questionnaire, and statistical analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Result: The median knowledge score before the intervention was 13 (minimum 5; maximum 15), while after the intervention it increased to 16 (minimum 13; maximum 16). Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference in pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.001), indicating that video-based education effectively improved maternal knowledge. Conclusion: Video-based education significantly enhances pregnant women’s knowledge regarding triple elimination screening. The use of audiovisual media in maternal health education should be integrated into antenatal services to strengthen awareness and early detection of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B.

Abstract

Introduction: Pain following cesarean section (SC) is a major postoperative issue that can disrupt maternal recovery and breastfeeding. Pharmacological pain control alone is often insufficient, hence complementary approaches like hypnotherapy are essential. Objective: The aim of this activity is to enhance the competence of midwives and empower postpartum mothers in managing pain after sectio caesarea surgery through the application of hypnotherapy as a non-pharmacological intervention based on education and hands-on practice at Mgr. Gabriel Manek, SVD Hospital, Atambua. Method: Conducted from September–October 2025 at RSUD Mgr. Gabriel Manek, SVD., Atambua, this activity used an educational quasi-experimental approach involving 30 postpartum mothers and 10 midwives. Participants received training and practical hypnotherapy sessions. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after intervention. Result: The average pain intensity decreased from 4.9 (moderate) to 2.8 (mild) after therapy. 83% of mothers experienced better relaxation and sleep, and 90% of midwives reported increased confidence in using hypnotherapy. From a psychological perspective, hypnotherapy has a significant impact on the emotional stability and self-confidence of postpartum mothers. Participants reported an increased ability to cope with pain without fear and experienced a greater sense of calmness during the recovery period. Conclusion: Hypnotherapy has been proven effective in reducing postpartum pain levels among mothers after sectio caesarea at Mgr. Gabriel Manek, SVD Hospital, Atambua. This program provides physiological, psychological, and educational benefits for postpartum mothers while enhancing midwives’ competence in implementing non-pharmacological interventions. The implementation of this program is recommended to be integrated into maternity care protocols in regional hospitals and adopted as a sustainable training model for healthcare professionals in border areas.
